I love shower oils, I find them so beneficial for my skin, meaning I don’t have to use heavy body creams (which I loathe, I feel like my skin is suffocating) and just a layer of body oil on wet skin after the shower and that’s me done!
I hadn’t tried anything from Nuxe before and when Prodigieux Shower Oil came up in the You Beauty Shortlist, I picked it to test.
This is lovely to use, it has a gorgeous silky texture that glides on your skin with a very gentle lather. It’s supposed to leave a golden shimmer on your skin, personally I didn’t notice that. What I was disappointed with is that it left my skin feeling ever so slightly squeaky, and I needed to apply body lotion afterwards. I am lazy with dry skin, which is never a good combination so I want shower products that leave my skin moisturised.
The fragrance is gorgeous, warm and floral I certainly want to try the body lotion and the oil in the range. I am not sure I would buy this again purely because the way it left my skin feeling. If you aren’t as dry as I am you will more likely find this absolutely fine and wouldn’t need a body lotion straight after.
Prodigieux Shower Oil is also very reasonably priced, 200ml is £10.50. I did expect it to be a lot more expensive, this 30ml is a generous travel size. In rotation in my shower (I have 4 shower products open!) it lasted me about a month, you don’t need to use huge amounts either. I’m glad I tried it, and it certainly won’t deter me from trying other products from Nuxe.
Till next time,
I’ve got another product from Kind Natured today, after I had tested Kind Natured Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner and loved them, I picked up a tube of Nourishing Amber and Pink Pepper Body Wash when I was browsing in Boots.
I adore spicy, musky scents and I find them completely intoxicating so I knew I would love this. The fragrance is absolutely beautiful, yes it has spice with the Pink Pepper and Ginger but it’s balanced with Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Juniper, Lime, Tea Tree and many others, it is quite a complex fragrance. It’s warming in a musk kind of way rather than the pepper, I find it really comforting.
There are no silicones, parabens, sulfates and petrochemicals which are ingredients I try and avoid. You don’t need to use much, 10p on a shower puff is more than enough to wash your whole body. Currently there isn’t a matching body lotion (although there is a bath soak) so I have requested that Kind Natured make one! I use this as a handwash too, and it never strips your skin. It’s £4.99 for a 250ml tube so fantastic value, and is available from Boots.
Till next time,
I’ve got a staple shower product to share with you Elemis Skin Nourishing Shower Cream, I can’t remember when I first tried it, it has been so long that I have been using this.
As it’s Elemis the shower cream has no nasties in or synthetic foaming agents. I have to be very careful with what I use as SLS irritates my eczema. It has a milk protein base and natural oils such as macadamia seed oil, camellia oil, jojoba oil, oat and wheat germ extracts. It’s beautifully softening and the smell is heavenly! It’s a very fresh clean linen sort of fragrance which is suitable for everyone.
I find this shower cream really versatile as I have used it in the bath, as a hand wash and a shampoo so great to take travelling with you to cut down on other products. I prefer the shower cream as a bath product rather than the traditional milk bath (I find that a bit slimy feeling) and it does foam gently and I always love a few bubbles in the bath. I use this in the shower with a puff so you only need a small amount so a 300ml bottle lasts a long time. I find when I use this it moisturises my skin and I don’t need to use a body lotion every day. A definite favourite that is suitable for the entire family. Skin Nourishing Shower Cream is £24.00 and available from elemis.com.
Till next time,
This is one of my favourite shower products that is so heavenly to use, L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. I first tried it last Winter and found it fantastic for my dry skin, it is such a gorgeous silky oil and the scent is beautiful.
Don’t be put off that this is an oil, as soon as it comes into contact with the water it turns into a smooth milky texture that is so cleansing and hydrating. I don’t find that it actually foams but that doesn’t bother me and as it is not a typical shower product in that sense. The fragrance is stunning, not marzipan which is good as I am not a fan! It is crisp apple blossom and warming vanilla, not sickly just a warming soothing scent that is so lovely to use at any time of the day.
I find one pump of the 500ml bottle is enough for my whole body, a little goes a long way as it spreads over your skin so easily, I found that bottle lasted me months even when I was being indulgent and using it as a handwash sometimes. The oil also comes in a eco refill pouch so once you have the bottle you don’t have to keep buying them which makes it more cost effective.
This is a very luxurious product and so hydrating after I use it I very rarely use body lotion so it is a great option if you would rather have an extra 5-10 mins a bed of a morning! It is soothing and calming and you can use it in the bath too for an indulgent treat.
L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil, it is a staple in my bathroom and if you haven’t tried it, you must!! It is available from http://uk.loccitane.com/ and the 500ml pump bottle is £29.50.
