AA Beauty Primer 360

Hi beauties

Today I have the AA Beauty Primer 360 Anti Age Skin De-Stress Complex. I still haven’t found my holy grail Primer that is mattifying enough to use with my Ultrasun SPF and makeup but also keep me shine free when I’m just wearing my SPF.

This is another eBay find, and I have to say first off that it isn’t as mattifying as I would like BUT I really like this. Makeup goes on well over the top (I use Bare Minerals Original Foundation and Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream as my bases) it smooths pores and helps fill in the lines under my eyes and it has the most gorgeous subtle shimmer effect.

Ingredients are: Alcohol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Ceteareth-12, Acetylhexapeptide-8, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Faex Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Aesculus Hippocastanum Extract, Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Biotin, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Zinc Gluconate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis Oil, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Palm Kernel Glycerides, Squalane, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Lauryl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Ceramide NP, Lecithin, Pentylene Glycol, Ornithine HCL, Carnosine, Glycine, Histidine, Lysine, Calcium Gluconate, Magnesium Gluconate, Cupric Chloride, Manganese Chloride, Benzophenone-4, Mica, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, CI 77891, CI 77491.

I think this is possibly the closest to the holy grail that I want as I would definitely repurchase this. At ¬£8.99 for a 30ml tube it’s great value and it ticks the majority of the boxes. I’m a fussy bugger I know, so primers always have a lot to live up to. This AA Beauty Primer is definitely one to try.

Witch Primer

Hi beauties,

I have a multi-tasker today with Witch Daily Primer & Clearing Serum, I received this in a Blogger Beauty Box and I have been testing this for a very long time! I am fussy with primers as I am so oily and find that this shows through very easily, if I have made the effort to put makeup on, I want it to stay good as long as possible!

Anyhoo, I didn’t start testing this until I was having a re-jigg of product and when my other primer had finished. It has a lovely texture, very silky not heavy at all so you don’t feel like you are putting on a thick heavy layer on after you have done your skincare. It also has the pleasant herby Witch Hazel scent which I really like. I have used this with various serums and moisturisers underneath and it works well.

I like this primer, it doesn’t completely matte down your complexion like traditional mattifying primers, but leaves your skin with a bit of a glow that we are all looking for! This primer holds onto makeup well and can be used as a serum on it’s own or under a moisturiser too. I noticed while I was using this, I didn’t experience any breakouts which is quite unusual as I am usually blessed with a monthly visitor along my jawline! It may be a coincidence, but I am thinking this formula must have had something to do with it. You only need a pea-sized amount to cover your whole face and I still have plenty left in the tube. I used it without makeup too and had a good result, I feel it offers protection against breakouts, the only downside is I would like a bit more mattifying. The price too is very good, ¬£6.99 for 30ml and available at Superdrug.

Kiko Mat Base Corrector

image

Hi beauties,

I am revisiting this primer as I think I was unduly harsh on it before and as it turns out I was actually using this incorrectly. Kiko Mat Base Corrector is a very good primer for someone with oily skin.

It was only when I saw a matte primer being demonstrated on QVC I realised that I was applying it straight onto my skin. The effect of this was it was going into my pores turning them white and really obvious. The trick to this is warming up a small amount in your hands before patting it on to your skin instead of rubbing it on your face. The primer then is applied correctly, you can’t see it and it soaks up oil well.

Once ¬†changed my technique my makeup applied so much easily, it smooths out giving a good matte base for both liquid and mineral powder foundation. Unfortunately there isn’t any directions on the packaging for application, it was only by chance that I tried it in this way. I’m glad I tried it as it is the best primer for me whether I wear makeup or not.

So that’s it! It’s amazing what happens when you actually use a product correctly lol.

Till next time,

Lucy xxx
