Today’s post is Oils of Heaven Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil. I chose this from a You Beauty Box as I had wanted to try this brand for a while.
Oils of Heaven have got many oils as part of their range Cacay, Argan, Moringa, Rosehip and Baobab Oils. They source them from local suppliers in a sustainable way from women’s cooperatives.
To be honest I wasn’t bowled over by this Argan Oil. I have tried many and although it’s pleasant to use, I have (I feel) used better quality, cheaper oils. You only need a couple of drops to cover your face and neck, I found this to be slightly thicker than other oils I have used. Being an oily skin type, the thinner the better for me as they tend to sink into my skin a lot more easily.
Although it states it’s a facial oil, it’s still just one ingredient of Argan Oil so I tried it on my hair too, I found that I preferred it as a hair oil. My hair is coarse so it responds to oils well, I only needed a couple of drops in damp hair and then I blow dried. My hair was left soft and shiny and felt easier to manage.
Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil is available from http://www.oilsofheaven.com and is £19.00 for 30ml.

Jane Scrivner is a new find in Skincare for me, as for most things I hear about these days I first saw it on Instagram, where a lot of my friends were absolutely raving about her products.
Jane has worked in the Skincare and therapy industry for 24 years. Her products are created using natural, preferably organic ingredients that have an effect on the skin. Jane tests all products on herself and says if it doesn’t make a difference, it doesn’t make it.
I have already purchased and reviewed Jane Scrivner Intense Oil and I loved it that much that I had to get a back up, in the case of Intense Oil, this is created using a single estate Rosehip Oil from Chile and is the best quality Rosehip I have tried.
So as the Holland and Barrett half price promotion was still on I decided to get:
- Intense Oil (back up)
- Un-Condion Oil
- Rose Gold Serum
From Jane direct I ordered her OO Cream which is used as a moisturiser and to seal in facial oils.
As usual there will be individual product reviews once I have tested them for a decent amount of time (at least a month) so keep your eyes open.
Till next time,
Today I have The Ordinary 100% Organic Rose Hip Seed Oil for you today, I bought it with 2 other serums in this set The Ordinary when the brand was first launched. It’s another range from fabulous Deciem which as I am sure you know I am a huge fan of. I like Rosehip Oil, it was one of the first pure oils I started to use on my skin a long time ago.
My skin loves Rosehip so I didn’t have to wait long to see results from this, within two uses my skin was radiant, smooth and soft and not as greasy. Rosehip is a dry oil and it sinks in so easily. I’ve layered it with another serum from The Ordinary (the Alpha Arbutin) and there is no product roll off or any incompatibility so play around with what you have at home.
It’s a versatile oil which you can use face and body, I find it excellent for hydrating and balancing my skin. It’s great at reducing signs of old marks from breakouts as well as scars and improving the look of strechmarks. This oil is 100% organic and the quality is very good. I have used inferior oils in the past so I know what a good quality cold pressed oil should look like which is deep golden orange colour.
It’s also not as pungent as some Rosehip oils can be, I have tried some that have been so earthy they have put me off (A’Kin I am looking at you) this is so much better. It comes in a generous 30ml bottle in UV protective packaging so the oil does not degrade, a really nice touch, so you can leave it out on your dressing table should you wish to. The most amazing thing about The Ordinary Rosehip Oil is the price: it’s £9.00. I know, I couldn’t believe it either! I am so pleased about the quality for the low price and admire greatly what Deciem are achieving with The Ordinary, excellent quality ingredients and products for brilliant value. If I had to stop using my beloved Decleor Neroli and could only afford to buy this oil I wouldn’t be disappointed, I enjoy using this a great deal so it’s fantastic to see such an affordable range of serums. It’s available here http://www.ordinaries.com.
Till next time,
I’ve got another facial oil today, Elemi Balancing Facial Oil from Solace Aromatherapy. I’ve blogged about another of their blends Solace Aromatherapy Chamomile, Lavender & Vetiver Night Oil that is also gorgeous. As I predominately have oily skin, I wanted to try their balancing option.
The oil just has 8 ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Chia Chia Oil, Vitamin E, Elemi, Palmarosa, Neroli and Lemon Essential Oils. Jojoba is well known to be extremely balancing for oily skin, it is the closest oil to sebum, our skins natural oil. This oil is very light and absorbs very quickly. You only need 4-5 drops, I apply to skin that is damp from my toner as this helps the product go into the skin more effectively. The blend also doubles up as a cleanser, apply it to your face and remove with a warm cloth, your skin will be clean and more importantly not stripped.
The fragrance is this is gorgeous, uplifting and fresh from the Neroli and Lemon. Herby from the Palmarosa and Elemi, I always make sure to take a deep breath and really enjoy the scent. The oil leaves my skin so soft and comfortable, it is not overly greasy. If it is greasy then you have used too much. I have used this with a moisturiser over the top, but you don’t need to if you don’t want to, this would be enough on it’s own.
It has helped to balance my skin, it’s not so oily during the day now. Being oily and having to blot all the time drives me mad! I found that I didn’t have to wait too long to get an improvement on the oil production either.
Solace Aromatherapy is an independent company based in Knutsford, Cheshire. They have a wide range of skincare and haircare. I love finding independent brands and there are a few more products on my wish list! The value is also fantastic, Elemi Balancing Facial Oil is available from www.solace-aromatherapy.co.uk and is £8.99 for a 30ml bottle.
Till next time,
Some more skincare today with A D Skin Synergy Nourishing Night Treatment Rose & Geranium Limited Edition. I got this with my You beauty box and this was one of the options you could choose. I have wanted to try this oil for a long time, I’ve seen the original and this limited edition on QVC before and it has intrigued me.
At the risk of sounding boring, I love oils! Even with oily skin they have a dramatic effect on my skin and I do notice when I’ve not been using them. I love to layer my skincare and use different textures, I do change up what I use in my routines depending on what my skin needs that day. Anyway, back to this gorgeous product. I was very impressed on hearing the scientific results of this oil, it is proven to improve the hydration levels of your skin by 60% in just 30 minutes. I think that is pretty damn impressive!
The ingredients are also impressive, this blend contains: Rosehip Oil, Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin E and essential oils of Rose and Geranium. It is a gorgeous blend that smells beautiful. It is a thicker oil than some I have used in the past but as I use it at night only that doesn’t bother me. You can use this alone or if you want it, you can pop a moisturiser over the top. It depends on what my skin needs as to how I use it. I have used it alone and I have woken up with skin that is very comfortable, smooth and feeling refreshed. It is wonderful when I have overindulged in the old vino colapso, it definitely helps my skin to feel rehydrated the next day and all I’ve used is a couple of pumps over my face and decollete.
The packaging is lovely, but extremely clever. It comes in a pump bottle, so not only does it keep all the precious ingredients potent with no air getting in, if you knock it over it won’t spill. I am sure you will know that horrible feeling of being clumsy and seeing all that beautiful product smeared all over your bedside table! I also think that it looks very smart if you keep it out on display. Personally, I always keep my oils in a drawer so it is more protected from light. It’s in a generous 50ml bottle so this would last you many months.
This is a truly great product, as I said I had this from the You box and only paid £6.99 for it! One is worth £38.00 which to be honest I would happily pay that price. It genuinely makes a difference to my skin and 50ml means that I can afford to use it and that is so important. In my opinion skincare is only great if it works and you are able to use it regularly. I enjoy both using it and seeing the results. AD Skin Synergy Nourishing Night Treatment is available from www.adskinsynergy.com and http://www.qvcuk.com where a duo is available for £44.00 plus P&P.
Till next time,
Following on from my reviews of This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and This Works Deep Sleep Dream Cream I now have to tell you about the This Works Deep Sleep Night Oil.
I am a fan of the Deep Sleep range from This Works, I struggle with sleeping due to my pain, I can be physically exhausted but go to bed with a racing mind that just seems to torment me! I got an email a while ago to say they were having a sale and the Oil was in a gift set with the spray. As you all get bored of hearing me say, I love oils and I wanted to try this particular one so I snapped it up.
I wasn’t disappointed as it is a glorious silky oil and of course the scent is beautiful. The base is grapeseed oil which isn’t greasy, it’s a light oil that sinks in well to your skin so you aren’t trying to rub it into your skin forever. I use it every night on my hands and arms and follow it with the dream cream afterwards. The essential oils in the oil are the same Camomile, Vertivert and Lavender blend that are in the spray, there aren’t many nights when I don’t use all three in my bedtime ritual.
The packaging is also good, it’s in a pump bottle and you can control how much to use, my bugbear personally is when you have too much product and end up wasting it. I only use wee spritzes as a little goes a long way. This oil is also lovely after a bath or shower, fantastic for dry skin and you smell divine. If you struggle with relaxing and winding down, I would recommend this and the spray to have a peaceful night.
This Works Deep Sleep Night Oil is available from http://www.thisworks.com and is £25.00 for an 120ml bottle.
Till next time,
Today I’ve a product from my March 2016 Blogger Beauty Box and Magic Organic Apothecary London is a new brand to me.
MOA London create natural organic skincare made in England using the herb Yarrow which has been used for centuries for healing and repair. Yarrow is a herb that can be found in hedgerows all over the UK and is well known in folklore. Their signature product is their Green Balm which is a natural multi purpose balm to calm and soothe your skin.
I was sent the Aphrodite Facial Oil and I have to say I was thrilled! I love facial oils and I love to discover new ones, this beautiful oil did not disappoint me. The ingredients are: Rosehip Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Achillea Millefolium Oil (Yarrow), Rose Geranium Oil, Vitamin E, Marshmallow Leaf Extract and Damask Rose Oil. The scent is glorious due to the wonderful Rose Geranium and Damask Rose. It is very reminiscent of Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, so if you like that I am sure you will love this.
The oil is a gorgeous silky texture meaning it sinks into your skin very quickly, you only need two drops for your face (I use more for my neck and decollete) and I also use it around my eyes easily without irritation, although I would say as it has essential oils in, if you have sensitive eyes I wouldn’t recommend it. It spreads over your skin very well without having to use too much and it isn’t greasy. The oil is suitable for all skin types, due to the Rosehip being extremely moisturising for dry skin and the Rose Geranium being balancing for oily/combination skins. Rosehip Oil is rich in Vitamins A, C and essential fatty acids.
The packaging is also beautiful! I know I shouldn’t be excited by packaging as this doesn’t have any impact on your face, but I love the cardboard tube the oil comes in. I have kept it, so when it is on my bedside table it looks pretty! Although that’s not to say the bottle itself is ugly, the label is lovely and the bottle is a traditional amber bottle to protect the oil from sunlight. With a dropper cap it is easy to control how much you use.
My skin loves this oil and I would have no problem in recommending it to others! It calms my skin when I have any blemishes or redness, depending on what my skin needs I can use it on its own or with a moisturiser over the top. It is extremely reasonably priced too at £20.00, I have used many oils including pure Rosehip (which I wouldn’t use again because of the fragrance) and other blends, this I would definitely repurchase and that is the biggest compliment I think I can give a product. Spoil your skin and give this a try! Aphrodite Facial Oil is available from www.moa.london, it is £20.00 for a 30ml bottle.
