Bioderma Hydrabio Masque

Hi beauties

I have the Bioderma Hydrabio Masque today, I bought it earlier on in the year but it wasn’t until recently that I started testing it properly.

I was really surprised by this mask, the texture is quite thin and I wondered if it would be hydrating enough. I needed not have worried, this a remarkable mask that I consider an SOS product. Perfect for any time your skin is dry and dehydrated and its so quick to use too!

As the weather has been so much warmer my skin has been far more oily but with the heat and the new fan that I have on the highest setting, my skin has felt drier and tighter so I thought I would give this a try.

After cleansing I popped a layer of this on, it says to leave it on for 10 minutes but in the end I left it on a bit longer. The results are brilliant. The light texture means it sinks in so quickly, it has what I think of as a “skincare smell” not overpowering, slightly fresh and not intrusive.

I love this mask, I think its one of those products that is a quick fix. Not just at this time of year but all year round. I think it would be just as good in the winter time what with central heating. I bought it from easyparapharmacie.co.uk and currently its £7.99.

Paula’s Choice Pore Clarifying Charcoal Gel Mask

Hi beauties,

Today I have the Pore Clarifying Charcoal Gel Mask from Paula’s Choice. I purchased this a few months ago but hadn’t got round to reviewing.

Paula’s Choice is quite a popular brand on social media, they do have good proven ingredients that work such as their AHA and BHA exfoliators, Niacinamide, Vitamin C and Retinol in their Booster serums.

This was a new release so I thought I would try it. I love a mask but I think it’s a category that can be quite hit and miss personally.

The texture is a gel, so easy to spread over your skin, it leaves my skin feeling smoother and softer but not tight. It’s ok, but I really don’t think it’s better than other cheaper masks I have, for example Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Pore Purifying Clay Mask at £9.99. For me, this product does not live up to its £28.00 price tag.

I wouldn’t repurchase this mask, I was quite disappointed with it really. I don’t think it’s worth the money, and didn’t live up to the hype.

Beauty Kitchen Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask

Hi beauties

Today I have the Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask from Beauty Kitchen.

This has been my go to mask for a few months now, it’s a clay mask you can use from 5 to 15 minutes depending on the time you have.

I usually use it for the longest time, it yields the best results for me. It contains microalgae that deep cleans and detoxes your skin leaving it feeling refreshed, looking clearer and feeling smooth.

5 Minute Miracle Mask has a gorgeous fresh scent to it, and it’s very cooling on the skin. I find it a complete pleasure to use, and I already have another pot for when this jar runs out. Beauty Kitchen support The Seahorse Trust, they donate to the cause to preserve and conserve Seahorses. They are also a certified B Corporation business which means they abide by the corporations guidelines for social and environmental performance with sustainability and transparency.

You can get this fab mask from Beauty Kitchen direct or Holland and Barrett where their products are frequently on offer. A 60ml jar is £14.99, a little goes a long way, I use mine at least weekly and it’s lasted me about 6 months. I still have quite a few more applications to go! Definite value for money and a mask that gives great results.

Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel*

Hi beauties

I have got Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel today, this was very kindly sent to me by the brand before Christmas. I love their Cleansing Balm, in my opinion it is the best emulsifying balm on the market and so affordable, it’s under £20!

Back to the product at hand, Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel is a great formula, it uses glycolic acid as well as enzymes for an easy to use peel that is quick to boot.

The peel is a gel texture that is easy to apply, no grains (which I don’t like to use anymore as I have some broken capillaries) smooth it over your skin and leave on for 5-15 minutes depending on your skin’s tolerance/amount of time you have. I really like that you can leave it on longer for a more intense result.

Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel has the same beautiful fragrance as the gorgeous Cleansing Balm which makes it such a pleasure to use. It makes my skin feel smooth, and looking brighter. No redness or irritation for me afterwards, just lovely feeling smooth clean skin. And who doesn’t want that?? Brilliant value too at £21.00 for 50ml, check it out at http://www.merumaya.com

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Mask

Hi beauties,

I have Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Mask today, I got this wee size in a TSV I bought from QVCUK last year and I’ve tried it a few times.

This is a product that hasn’t lived up to the hype for me, there is something about it that makes my skin feel tight and not in a nice firming way, just in a “get me Moisturiser now or I will kick off” type of way. It was originally called Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Mask.

There’s clay in here which I usually like, however in a moisturising mask it doesn’t work for me. I can’t see how you would be able to leave this on overnight personally. This reminds me of Kiko Bright Lift Mask, similar ingredients and the same feeling (I much prefer Kiko Sublime Youth Mask to either of these).

Personally I didn’t get much of an anti wrinkle effect from this mask, but if you are looking for that firming, tighter feeling to your skin you will love this. The price is £49.50 for 50ml, for me I would much rather spend that on the Gatineau Melatogenine Futur Plus which I get fantastic results from.

Kiko Bright Lift Mask

Hi beauties

Kiko Bright Lift Mask today, from my Haul last summer.

I love a mask, I find them great for getting quick results in minimum time. This mask has white clay in to brighten and refresh as well as marine collagen to soften the skin.

Bright Lift Mask doesn’t seem to do much lifting for me, but brightening is definitely a result I did find. You need about 10-15 minutes, no longer as it starts to dry and feel a bit tight. I prefer the Sublime Youth mask and found myself reaching for that more than this. I also found this was a dupe for Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Mask both in texture and results, so this would be a good one for you if that’s a favourite.

Bright Lift Mask is good value at £9.90 for 50ml, available from Kiko Online and in store.

Lotta Skincare Botanical Beauty Balm

Hi beauty lovers,

I have a multi purpose product today by an independent brand, Lotta Skincare. Lotta is made by Charlotte who when starting her degree realised she could no longer afford the high end products she previously bought. As Charlotte studied Chemistry at university, she discovered what kind of chemicals were in conventional skincare, this led to three years making and testing her own products using natural ingredients that were beneficial for skin. Botanical Beauty Balm is one of her products.

Botanical Beauty Balm is multi use, you can use it as a cleanser as well as a moisturising balm for dry skin. I’ve used it as an overnight treatment on body, face and hands and I have to confess I love it!

The balm is Macadamia Seed Oil based with Sweet Almond, Coconut, Sunflower Seed Oils and beeswax. There are essential oils of Clove, Lavendin, Tea Tree and Geranium. It has a gorgeous texture, it is thick so you do have to warm it up by massaging into the skin. Perfect for as an overnight mask, Cuticle Treatment, Lip Balm, foot cream, any dry skin it Botanical Beauty Balm calms and hydrates your skin.

I love it, you only need a small amount as it is concentrated. I think the most surprising thing to me was the price, for 50g is £5.95 (plus shipping) it is SO affordable. You all know how much I love to find fantastic value for money, Lotta Skincare definitely offers that. Charlotte’s Night Owl Facial Oil is an extremely reasonable £15.95 for 45g. Check out her shop on etsy.com.
