Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel*

Hi beauties

I have got Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel today, this was very kindly sent to me by the brand before Christmas. I love their Cleansing Balm, in my opinion it is the best emulsifying balm on the market and so affordable, it’s under £20!

Back to the product at hand, Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel is a great formula, it uses glycolic acid as well as enzymes for an easy to use peel that is quick to boot.

The peel is a gel texture that is easy to apply, no grains (which I don’t like to use anymore as I have some broken capillaries) smooth it over your skin and leave on for 5-15 minutes depending on your skin’s tolerance/amount of time you have. I really like that you can leave it on longer for a more intense result.

Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel has the same beautiful fragrance as the gorgeous Cleansing Balm which makes it such a pleasure to use. It makes my skin feel smooth, and looking brighter. No redness or irritation for me afterwards, just lovely feeling smooth clean skin. And who doesn’t want that?? Brilliant value too at £21.00 for 50ml, check it out at

Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage

Hi beauties,

Today is the turn of Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage. This is part of the Activ Éclat range which promotes Radiance.  Gommage is French for exfoliation and this is a great salon-type Treatment that you don't need to go to a salon to get the benefit from.

Radiance Enhancing Gommage is an enzymatic exfoliator so no micro beads which is great for the environment and no particles which is great for skin that can't really use manual exfoliation like mine.

The ingredients are: Isononyl Isononanoate, Triethylhexanoin, Octyldodeceth-25, Aqua (water) Eau>, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Phenoxyethanol, Bisabolol, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Limonene, Parfum , Malic Acid, Pyrus Malus , Butylene Glycol, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid,peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycine Soja (soybean) Oil, Hydrolyzed Triticum Monococcum Seed Extract, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, bacillus Ferment, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Tocopherol, Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 40 (CI 16035).

Radiance Enhancing Gommage is packed with Vitamin C to encourage brightness, it's a pearlised gel texture that you spread over your skin and you leave it until it turns from the Gel to a water-like texture. That takes a couple of minutes making this exfoliator so easy to use. You can rinse it off in the shower or remove it with a cloth and you are left with smoother, brighter more glowing skin.

I love this, for the ease of use and the results. I have been using this for a very long time, I can't even remember when I bought it! It was in a kit from QVC which for me is the best way of buying Gatineau, separately it is available for £35.00 for a 75ml tube from

Grounded Coffee Scrub

Hi lovelies

If you haven’t tried a coffee scrub before, where have you been?? Ok, I have only tried one in the last couple of months but these are new scrubs on the block, kicking those with plastic microbeads in the pants! Ok so mixed metaphors there but I’m sure you get what I mean!

This scrub is from Grounded Body Scrub and I won it as part of a prize from lovely Nikki Taylor from Taylor Made Beauty. It is made by ground Robusta Coffee beans, Himayalan rock salt and brown sugar and packs a punch with caffeine. It’s rougher than your average body scrub so I wouldn’t use it on the face, but this bad boy is amazing on the body. Vitamin E and Cold Pressed Sweet Almond Oil is also included, so it’s definitely moisturises as well as thoroughly exfoliates your skin.

On opening the package you are hit with the most gorgeous aroma, I received the Chocolate Orange version so by the end of my shower I smelled like a popular chocolate confection! And that beautiful smell did last a few hours after my shower too. You grab a small handful of scrub and apply it to damp skin, you are supposed to leave it on for 10 minutes, I didn’t as I can’t stand in the shower for that long. The results for me is fantastic! Smooth and soft skin feeling moisturised and comfortable. You don’t have to use a body lotion afterwards if you don’t want to due to the Sweet Almond Oil in the scrub. I find lotions do sink in much more easily after using and I tend to use it twice a week. I have to be a bit careful as I do have eczema so I don’t rub too hard whilst applying.

Grounded Coffee Scrub really is a pleasure to use, they have other fragrances such as, coconut, mint and grapefruit as well as the chocolate orange that I have. It’s available from and Boots and is £15.00 for a 200ml bag.

Alpha H Age Delay Hand Cream*

Hi lovelies,

Today’s hand cream choice is Alpha H Age Delay Hand Cream which has been on my list for I don’t know how long, so when I got a 30ml size in my QVC Beauty Bash goody bag I was very pleased!

I am a fan of Alpha H, they are an Australian brand who specialise in exfoliation with Glycolic Acid, their hero being Liquid Gold which I use 3 nights a week. So it’s not a surprise to see Glycolic in this hand cream. It has a light lemony fresh fragrance and you don’t need to use a lot.

I am sorry to jump in with a negative point straight away, but I find I can only use this once a day or my skin at the top of my fingers literally starts to peel. This must be down to the 10% Glycolic Acid content. However, using it as a cuticle remover a few times a week is fantastic! I usually paint my nails after my afternoon nap, so I remove all polish in the morning and then pop oil and this hand cream around my cuticles. It gets rid of the dead skin and makes it so easy for me to push my cuticles back. I wash my hands a lot and find my cuticles get very dry and I find in small doses this is extremely effective. It is also quite greasy, but if you are only using it at night or with gloves like I do then it’s ok.

I don’t have pigmentation on my hands so this isn’t a concern for me, I have read a lot of reviews where people find that Age Delay is really good for evening out skin tone on the backs of hands. Alpha H say this is a manicure in a tube and I think as an intensive cuticle treatment it is brilliant. It’s the best cream I have tried for cuticle removal and will use this from now on for that purpose meaning a standard 100ml tube will last a very long time. A duo is available from for £25.00.

Alpha H Liquid Gold

 Hello lovelies,

Ah a real holy grail product and I am sure you have heard of it already the Alpha H Liquid Gold.

Liquid Gold is glycolic acid based liquid peel that lowers your skins pH level to increase moisture levels, refine the look of wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is derived from sugar cane. It gently resurfaces and polishes your skin by loosening dead skin cells from the surface levels of your skin.

It is ridiculously easy to use, you pour a small amount on a cotton pad, sweep it over your skin and go to bed. It replaces the need for serums and moisturisers and makes your skin so smooth and look more radiant. I would suggest that if you have sensitive skin, start off by dampening a cotton pad before applying the Liquid Gold onto the pad so it dilutes it slightly. Once your skin is used to the product, you can then use the product neat onto a dry cotton pad.

It is advised that you only use it on alternate nights, I use mine on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so all I do on those nights is double cleanse and apply Liquid Gold and then eye cream. That is it! So easy and the results are brilliant. I find it really does improve my skins texture, it looks and feels smoother and also brightens. The joy of this product is that it’s so easy to use you don’t even really need to think about it, so I love the lazy Liquid Gold nights. It really does pare back your routine so good for use if you feel you don’t have time for exfoliating as it does the work as you sleep.

You may experience a small amount of tingling when you have applied Liquid Gold. I personally love that as I know that it is working as it should be so don’t be alarmed if you do feel the tingle. Tingle is good, burning is bad! You must also wear SPF during the day if you are using glycolic acid.

I haven’t noticed much changing with the pigmentation I have, but I’ve only recently upped my SPF from 30 to 50 so I hoping that that change will help. If you read other reviews, a lot of people have seen extremely good results on their pigmentation so I do hope with stronger SPF and prolonged use this will improve. Despite this I will always carry on using Liquid Gold as I do love the effect and would recommend it for soft, smooth, bright skin.

Do you exfoliate? If so, what kind do you use? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Till next time,

Skincare Super Duo

 Hello lovely people,

Ok so I have to write about these two fantastic products from an amazing brand called Gatineau. It’s not a brand that is extensively on the high street, it has been at QVCUK for the last 22 years and it has an excellent 80 year heritage. It’s a salon brand and they do independent clinical trials on their products so they are proven to work.

Gatineau have different ranges depending on your skincare concerns, my favourite is the wrinkle fighting Melatogenine. This is a compound the press named “The Miracle molecule” probably because they couldn’t pronounce it! There are various products within this range which you can slot into your existing routine or indeed use the whole collection. One of the wonder products is the Melatogenine Futur Plus Mask.

It is no understatement to say that this is the best mask I have ever tried. You don’t need to use a lot and you can use it in various ways which is what I think, makes it so great. For an express treatment, you can apply a thin layer all over your face (including over the eyelid and right up to the lash line) wait for 10 minutes and then remove. You can apply a thicker layer and leave for a longer period of time, remove or massage in the excess. Another way is applying a small amount over the top of your other products in the evening and sleep with it on. I very often sleep with a wee bit under my eyes (I hate the darkness and lines underneath my eyes) and I don’t find it irritating

The texture is smooth and creamy, as I said before you don’t need to use a lot to get a great result. I tend to be heavy handed with products (a dreadful habit I must get out of!) but I do find a 75ml tube lasts me quite a long time. The result of using the mask is smoothing out of lines and wrinkles, I find they really do look diminished. I was really amazed when I first used it, (due to health reasons I suffer with permanent fatigue and this really shows around my eyes) my eye area looked plumper and moisturised. It leaves your whole face baby soft.

I was extremely lucky recently and was able to buy a 200ml pot with a tube of another famous Gatineau product, their Radiance Enhancing Gommage.

Gatineau have 3 exfoliants, gommage is French for exfoliation. The Radiance Enhancing Gommage is an enzymatic mask which I hadn’t actually tried before. It’s a sticky gel consistency, you smooth a layer over your skin and massage until the texture changes from the gel to a more liquid water-like feeling. It takes a couple of minutes and then rinse it from your skin. It’s so quick and the smell is beautiful, citrussy and uplifting. Your skin is so smooth and clear afterwards and ready for any treatments or your usual routine. I was really impressed with the product, as I have got a couple of broken capillaries I am trying not to use physical exfoliants. My skin felt great and not red in the slightest. In order to get the most benefit of the mask I would definitely use the Gommage first.

These two things I would definitely recommend together, the results really are visible and very impressive.

What are your favourite treatment products? What could you not live without? Leave me a comment about what you think.

The triple threat facial

IMG_1200.2014-10-12_104908 am

Cleanse – Exfoliate – Mask

I can’t remember where I heard the concept of the triple threat facial as it’s something I’ve been doing for quite a long time. I usually do this on a Sunday as the lovely Fiona Brackenbury (Training Director for Decleor) likes to call “Skincare Sunday”. Usually the best day of the week for a bit of pampering, a lovely double cleanse, a massage and some masks. I always have the intention to do a midweek mask but then I’m usually too tired even though I know it will only take 10 minutes.

So, I start off with a double cleanse with one cleanser I keep going back to time after time. I love to try new, but a true staple for me is Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. It’s such a quick and easy cleanser to use and so thorough, even when you are wearing heavy eye makeup. I love the texture, creamy and rich, my skin never feels stripped and I love the smell! I do the first cleanse to remove makeup and SPF (I use Ultrasun face formulas every day) and then on the second cleanse I do some massage techniques to try and get a bit of glow back (I have to take strong painkillers as I have damage to the joints in my spine) as I find that my skin can look very tired and pale.

The next step for me is one of my most favourite exfoliators, Alpha H Micro Cleanse. As I’ve got oily skin I know I’m not supposed to use it too often (as I use their famous Liquid Gold 3 times a week) however I love the result so much!! I will have to be a bit careful as I’ve got a couple of broken capillaries at the side of my nose. The result is fantastic, skin is baby smooth and feels so refreshed. I would definitely recommend Micro Cleanse, especially if you have dry, dull skin on your face or body.

Because I have oily skin, I do enjoy using a clay mask. In years gone by I’ve used one’s where my skin has felt quite tight afterwards so in trying to avoid stripping I’ve gone for Dr Organic Rose Otto clay mask. The fragrance is beautiful and I do feel that it removes excess oil without my skin feeling uncomfortable.

Rosehip oil is an oil I have found that really regulates my oily skin. It’s a dry oil (which sounds weird!) that sinks in so easily and gives wonderful hydration. Especially in the winter time when central heating is cranked up and going in and outdoors I find that I need a little extra help. This is when I put the rosehip oil underneath Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment, the increased moisture is a great combination.

I interchange the Liz Earle mask with the incredible Gatineau Melatogenine Futur Plus mask, I am wrinkle phobic so adore this mask underneath my eyes. It’s a gorgeous creamy texture and you can use it as a night cream if you so wish. If I only had to use one mask forever, then it would be the Melatogenine. The results in 10 minutes is so fantastic, it softens lines and wrinkles and plumps up your skin so it looks radiant afterwards. It is a versatile product that truly does what Gatineau claims that it does. I’m obsessed!!

I know that this process may sound very long, but the results are good and as the masks generally only take 8-10 minutes at a time it is worth it.

Those are my favourite pampering products, what are yours?
