Bellapierre Cosmetics

Mascara and champagne highlighter

Hi beauties,

I have some makeup today, in the form of Volumising Mascara and Shimmer Powder in Champagne from Bellapierre. These two came from two You Beauty Boxes and as I don’t wear makeup that often, it’s taken me a while to test them..

So to start with the mascara, I have very straight lashes that seem to be getting straighter as I get older, so curl is top of my list. I love a bit of volume too, I don’t have to worry too much about length as my lashes grow so long. They’ve always been like that, much to the envy of my sister! I didn’t’ get much curl with this mascara at all, although it did make my lashes look a wee bit thicker but overall unfortunately I was unimpressed. If you want thickness and not bothered about curl this would be an option. I don’t think this is worth £19.99 which to me is premium prices, for twenty quid I want the moon on a stick!

On to the highlighting shimmer powder, this is lovely. It gave my skin a real glow, the sheen is unbeliveable! You can’t see much in the straight on picture, the profile one is much better and clearer to skin. For a makeup novice like me it was easy to apply, I may have gone crazy and applied too much…! Shimmer Powder is £12.99 which I don’t think is too bad, generally it is the pricing that puts me off Bellapierre, for example their mineral foundation is £34.99 *shocked face*!

Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream

Hi beauties,

Today I have Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream. I ordered this a few months ago while I was having the most awful eczema flare up and wanted to treat it with more natural ingredients rather than the mineral oil based crap my GP prescribed which was not only revolting to use, but it made my skin drier.

Egyptian Magic has only six ingredients: Olive Oil, Bees Wax, Honey, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, Bee Propolis. It is a firm Balm that you need to warm up until it emulsifies into an oil and then you can spread it over your skin. A little goes a long way so do be careful with how much you get out of the pot! I use a small spatula and to cover my lower back and down to my legs where the eczema is (it stops mid-thigh) I use around a 50p piece amount and it covers that area. I use Body butter first and use Egyptian Magic to seal it in.

This is a fabulous balm which really does help heal skin. You can use this in so many ways, there are 20 uses for it on their website! You can use it as a makeup remover, lip balm, moisturiser, eye cream, face mask, hair conditioner, baby balm, nail and cuticle balm and the list goes on.

You also get a lot in the pot, 118ml so it’s lasted me for such a long time. If I am wearing my pain killing patches then I’m only using the Balm in the evening. I’ve had mine for 3 months and I’ve not hit the halfway mark yet. I’m not using it quite so much at the moment, as the balm has got my skin in fabulous condition. I bought my pot from an ebay store for £10.00, it is available in Boots but at £29.00. If you have tricky skin and are looking for a natural alternative to the utter rubbish that GP’s prescribe, Egyptian Magic would be a great option.

Oils of Heaven Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil

Hi beauties,

Today’s post is Oils of Heaven Organic Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil. I chose this from a You Beauty Box as I had wanted to try this brand for a while.

Oils of Heaven have got many oils as part of their range Cacay, Argan, Moringa, Rosehip and Baobab Oils. They source them from local suppliers in a sustainable way from women’s cooperatives.

To be honest I wasn’t bowled over by this Argan Oil. I have tried many and although it’s pleasant to use, I have (I feel) used better quality, cheaper oils. You only need a couple of drops to cover your face and neck, I found this to be slightly thicker than other oils I have used. Being an oily skin type, the thinner the better for me as they tend to sink into my skin a lot more easily.

Although it states it’s a facial oil, it’s still just one ingredient of Argan Oil so I tried it on my hair too, I found that I preferred it as a hair oil. My hair is coarse so it responds to oils well, I only needed a couple of drops in damp hair and then I blow dried. My hair was left soft and shiny and felt easier to manage.

Argan Moisture Retention Face Oil is available from http://www.oilsofheaven.com and is £19.00 for 30ml.

Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Mask

Hi beauties

I have Sukin’s Super Greens Detoxifying Clay Masque today, I do love a mask to get quick results and a pick me up for your skin.

Sukin is an Australian brand that make “natural” products for really affordable prices. I had been wanting to try the brand for a while, they are stocked in Holland and Barrett and Boots but my local stores don’t carry the range. This Super Greens Masque was a choice in a You Beauty Box.

The Masque contains a super greens blend comprising of kale, spirulina and parsley, vitamins and antioxidants to detox the skin. Avocado, Baobab and Rosehip Oils provide hydration that you don’t typically have with a kaolin based clay mask.

Super Greens has a gorgeous soft buttery texture so it’s very easy to spread on your skin. You apply it to wet skin and leave it for 15 minutes. Another thing that is unusual about a clay mask is that it doesn’t set, you don’t experience that tight, uncomfortable feeling that traditional masks give you.

The oils mean it’s very hydrating without being/feeling greasy. I have followed Super Greens with Sukin’s Hydrating Facial Masque (review coming soon) but my oily skin doesn’t really need it as my skin is left feeling soft and comfortable and looking brighter when I have removed it. If you have drier or sensitive skin you may want to follow it up with a moisture mask, but try it first without to see how you get on.

This is a huge thumbs up from me, I really love it. Pleasurable to use, quick and I love the results I get, clearer, brighter soft feeling skin. It is of course so affordable at £11.49 for a 100ml jar that will last for months on end. You can buy from Holland and Barrett and Boots in store and online.

Morrocanoil Light Treatment

Hi beauties,

Some more haircare, I haven’t done any posts for ages and then two come along at once! I haven’t tried Morrocanoil Light Hair Treatment before, though I have heard of it, it has become a bit of a cult product.

I chose this as part of a You Beauty Box, I like using oil in my hair as I enjoy the results, more shiny looking hair and it feels softer and more manageable. In this bottle, the ingredients are: Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Argan Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Linseed Extract.

As you can see from the ingredients, the first two are silicones. I thought this was a pure oil so I was surpriseed to see them in the inci listing. I don’t really enjoy the feeling of silicones in my hair, to me they make my hair feel and look a little greasy, so I didn’t particularly like this formulation. Also the inclusion of Linseed extract and fragrance reminded me of a floor polish my mum used to use on our dining room floor when I was a kid. Not something that you would want to smell all day! To me this fragrance lingered and clashed with my perfume (I always spray it on my hair as it holds the fragrance all day). Price wise it varies between £28-£32 for a 100ml bottle.

I don’t think it will be a surprise to you to say that I wouldn’t repurchase this, there are so many other affordable base oils you can use in your hair to give you great results, one I have tried and really enjoyed using was The Ordinary 100% Cold Pressed Argan Oil , a good quality oil for a great price, I would much rather use that.

Morrocanoil Light is available from Look Fantastic for £32.85.

Till next time,

Reasons to be cheerful, 1,2,3: Happy Holidays!

Hey beauties,

I love Christmas, I am that still excitable child, but now I can roll out of bed at 10am and drink straight away!! (Ok, I’ve stopped smoking still let me have the booze!)

I bloody LOVE the silly season!! The fairy lights, scented candles, snuggly blanket/slanket (if you haven’t heard of a slanket I insist you research it now!) They are what I call immense (which by the way, was MY phrase before Miranda’s Mum Penny nicked it #rude) anyhoo, treat yo’self this winter season for one of those bad boys. Especially in the leopard print..

Moving on, I wanted to wish all you bloody lovely people who read my blog, maybe also follow me on social media and  all the brilliant brands I have worked with this year a special Christmas and New Year, may it bring you all the joys and treasures. I want to say thank you to you all for a fabulous year, you have enabled me in the most amazing way to feel a part of a community which in real life I don’t. I wanted to tell you about the impact on a daily basis you guys have on me and I can tell you in 5 words: You make me feel included. And for that I am more grateful than you will ever know.

And if Christmas isn’t a great time of year for you, for whatever reason then I send you my love and I hope that it isn’t too hard for you, but I want to say I appreciate you and will think of you.

I am having a wee break, so I will be back posting on the 2nd of January 2017. Merry Christmas and a here is to a healthy and happy 2017.

All my love,

Bare Minerals Beautifully Radiant Collection

Hello beauties

This is the latest TSV from Bare Minerals Beautifully Radiant Collection from QVC, this is such a fabulous set and I was so pleased to see the Complexion Rescue as I have always wanted to try it.

The kit contained:

8g Original SPF15 Foundation; full size, my shade is Fairly Light

35ml Complexion Rescue; full size the shade with Fairly Light is Vanilla

0.85g Mineral Blush in Exuberance full size

Moxie Lip Gloss in Californian Dreamer, full size

New Stroke of Light Highlighter, full size

2 handbag sized full flawless face brush and Complexion smoothing brush.

I’m a huge fan of Bare Minerals and have been for years, the Original foundation is pretty much the only base I wear as it’s so easy to use and great for my oily skin. This is the look I have created with the kit (minus the lip gloss, I hate them so that went to my best friend straight away lol) the only thing I have added is some mascara and a BM lipstick in Get Ready.

I used both bases so started off with Complexion Rescue and put my Original foundation over the top as I wanted extra coverage. I then applied the Exuberance blush which is a gorgeous rose tone, I love these kind of shades as they really suit my skintone without being too garish. I always look better with a bit of blush, without it I’m a bit too washed out.

Next I used the Stroke of Light highlighter which is a peach tone, I only used a tiny bit on my cheeks and underneath my brow just to add a bit of lustre and light. The brushes are just the right size for me, I do have quite a small face so find some brushes are too big for my face, these are brilliant especially for the blush.

I’m really pleased with this collection and it’s one I will get a lot of use! I have worn the Complexion Rescue on its own and really like the light coverage you get and you can build on that with more or add your Minerals over the top as I have done here. My only criticism is that they always put lip glosses in TSV’s and I don’t ever wear them, more lipsticks please! This was excellent value at under £44 and thankfully on 4 easy pays so I was able to get this one. Thank you BM and QVC!
