Beauty Pie Box 1

Hi beauties

I recently subscribed to Beauty Pie, a friend of mine Kassie (@kassie157 on Instagram) sent me some makeup at Christmas. I recently tried the mascara and lipstick she sent, I was so impressed that I signed up and got some skincare.

My choices were:

  • Double-Phase Daily Deep Rinse-Off Cleanser
  • Super Retinol Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream
  • Matte Retouch Pore-Minimizing Primer
  • Über Youth Super Serum

Since I have ordered, my skin has thrown a complete fit so I’m on a pared back routine but I will be testing as soon as I can and reviewing here. I signed up for 3 months at £10.00 per month, that gives me a spending allowance of £100. At the time of ordering there was an offer which gave me a shopping allowance of £200.

Next month, I want to try some more makeup, there are some gorgeous nail polish colours I want to try as well as some foundation.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, go to and take a look.

Till next time,

AA Beauty Primer 360

Hi beauties

Today I have the AA Beauty Primer 360 Anti Age Skin De-Stress Complex. I still haven’t found my holy grail Primer that is mattifying enough to use with my Ultrasun SPF and makeup but also keep me shine free when I’m just wearing my SPF.

This is another eBay find, and I have to say first off that it isn’t as mattifying as I would like BUT I really like this. Makeup goes on well over the top (I use Bare Minerals Original Foundation and Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream as my bases) it smooths pores and helps fill in the lines under my eyes and it has the most gorgeous subtle shimmer effect.

Ingredients are: Alcohol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Ceteareth-12, Acetylhexapeptide-8, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Faex Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Aesculus Hippocastanum Extract, Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Biotin, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Zinc Gluconate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis Oil, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Palm Kernel Glycerides, Squalane, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Lauryl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Ceramide NP, Lecithin, Pentylene Glycol, Ornithine HCL, Carnosine, Glycine, Histidine, Lysine, Calcium Gluconate, Magnesium Gluconate, Cupric Chloride, Manganese Chloride, Benzophenone-4, Mica, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, CI 77891, CI 77491.

I think this is possibly the closest to the holy grail that I want as I would definitely repurchase this. At £8.99 for a 30ml tube it’s great value and it ticks the majority of the boxes. I’m a fussy bugger I know, so primers always have a lot to live up to. This AA Beauty Primer is definitely one to try.

Witch Primer

Hi beauties,

I have a multi-tasker today with Witch Daily Primer & Clearing Serum, I received this in a Blogger Beauty Box and I have been testing this for a very long time! I am fussy with primers as I am so oily and find that this shows through very easily, if I have made the effort to put makeup on, I want it to stay good as long as possible!

Anyhoo, I didn’t start testing this until I was having a re-jigg of product and when my other primer had finished. It has a lovely texture, very silky not heavy at all so you don’t feel like you are putting on a thick heavy layer on after you have done your skincare. It also has the pleasant herby Witch Hazel scent which I really like. I have used this with various serums and moisturisers underneath and it works well.

I like this primer, it doesn’t completely matte down your complexion like traditional mattifying primers, but leaves your skin with a bit of a glow that we are all looking for! This primer holds onto makeup well and can be used as a serum on it’s own or under a moisturiser too. I noticed while I was using this, I didn’t experience any breakouts which is quite unusual as I am usually blessed with a monthly visitor along my jawline! It may be a coincidence, but I am thinking this formula must have had something to do with it. You only need a pea-sized amount to cover your whole face and I still have plenty left in the tube. I used it without makeup too and had a good result, I feel it offers protection against breakouts, the only downside is I would like a bit more mattifying. The price too is very good, £6.99 for 30ml and available at Superdrug.

You Beauty Box August 2016

Hi lovelies,

I have August’s You Beauty Box today, I really like this box as they are sample sizes but there are different plans starting at just £6.95 for 2 products. This month I chose to go for the Gold membership for 4 products and I had 2 extra included with a discount brochure.

I chose:

111Skin Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask (1 mask)

The Bodyshop Oils of Life (7ml sample)

Bloom and Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Spritz (40ml sample)

This Works In Transit Camera Close Up (20ml sample)

A sample of Verso Super Facial Serum With Retinol and Beverly Hills Formula Whitening Black Toothpaste were also added to the box.

All of these are new to me, so I can’t wait to get testing! I’ve wanted to try The Body Shop Oils of Life for a long time as I have read rave reviews of it and also the This Works In Transit Camera close up. I do think it’s good value obviously not as good as my usual Blogger Beauty Box, but for trying out some new products you have enough with the samples to test them and get a good feeling of whether they suit you or not. The boxes are available and prices start at £6.95 including delivery.

Kiko Mat Base Corrector

Hi beauties,

I am revisiting this primer as I think I was unduly harsh on it before and as it turns out I was actually using this incorrectly. Kiko Mat Base Corrector is a very good primer for someone with oily skin.

It was only when I saw a matte primer being demonstrated on QVC I realised that I was applying it straight onto my skin. The effect of this was it was going into my pores turning them white and really obvious. The trick to this is warming up a small amount in your hands before patting it on to your skin instead of rubbing it on your face. The primer then is applied correctly, you can’t see it and it soaks up oil well.

Once  changed my technique my makeup applied so much easily, it smooths out giving a good matte base for both liquid and mineral powder foundation. Unfortunately there isn’t any directions on the packaging for application, it was only by chance that I tried it in this way. I’m glad I tried it as it is the best primer for me whether I wear makeup or not.

So that’s it! It’s amazing what happens when you actually use a product correctly lol.

Till next time,

Lucy xxx

Hylamide Photography Foundation

Hello lovelies,

Another excellent product from Deciem’s Hylamide is Photography Foundation. I got this in their Black Friday sale along with two other products that my Mum kindly bought me for Christmas.

When I first heard of this product I didn’t really know what it is for as when you squeeze out a little bit from the bottle it is a golden type colour which I thought this in no way is a foundation that gives you coverage. Really it is a primer and a brilliant one at that. It covers redness and gives you the most beautiful glow, diffusing any imperfections that you may have. Ok so it doesn’t help with shine, but for once I don’t care about that as it makes your skin look fantastic.

I was really surprised in how much redness it covers, I have a few broken capillaries  and it takes the majority of the colour away so I need less concealer and less foundation. I use it under my Bare Minerals Ready Foundation and my skin has never looked so good. It isn’t glittery, the best way to describe it is a glow and radiance.

You don’t have to just layer the Photography Foundation as a primer, you can mix it in with your liquid foundation too if that’s what you prefer. You don’t need much either to perfect your skin. I use it all over my face and under my eyes too which helps with the redness/blueness I have. You can just use it on it’s own as well for a no makeup day. I love this so much as I cannot believe how my skin looks when I wear it.

It has a very thin texture so easy to apply and it dries quickly so you aren’t hanging around for ages waiting to put your makeup on. After you have finished your base you can use it as a highlighter by patting it on. Absolutely brilliant and Deciem have another cracking product on their hands. Photography Foundation is £18.00 for 30ml and available from
