Max Factor False Lash Epic

Hi beauties,

I have something monumental to share with you today: I have found my holy grail mascara! Yes it’s true, after searching for more years than I care to admit that day is finally here.

This wonder mascara is Max Factor False Lash Epic and boy Max Factor weren’t kidding when they came up with that name! I’ve got reasonably good lashes, some are obscenely long, but they are straight and getting straighter as I get older. This gurl ain’t got no curl! When I first tried this I was gobsmacked at how good it was. I took the photo above straight after!

The wand is brilliant and the formula is great, it provides curl to my lashes and it actually holds it too. A tip I heard recently was that when applying mascara brush straight through your lashes and don’t wiggle the brush. By wiggling you can clump your lashes together and you don’t get the maximum lift. It’s true, this totally works and gives my lashes fab Lift.

I discovered this in a You Beauty Box and will buy it forever more, it’s £12 which is more than I would usually spend, however it’s totally worth it for the results I get. It’s not a crazy £30 that some premium mascaras are so I can live with the price.

If you are looking for a great mascara to give you lift/curl and volume this will be right up your street. Thank you Max Factor!!

Till next time,

Bellapierre Cosmetics

Mascara and champagne highlighter

Hi beauties,

I have some makeup today, in the form of Volumising Mascara and Shimmer Powder in Champagne from Bellapierre. These two came from two You Beauty Boxes and as I don’t wear makeup that often, it’s taken me a while to test them..

So to start with the mascara, I have very straight lashes that seem to be getting straighter as I get older, so curl is top of my list. I love a bit of volume too, I don’t have to worry too much about length as my lashes grow so long. They’ve always been like that, much to the envy of my sister! I didn’t’ get much curl with this mascara at all, although it did make my lashes look a wee bit thicker but overall unfortunately I was unimpressed. If you want thickness and not bothered about curl this would be an option. I don’t think this is worth £19.99 which to me is premium prices, for twenty quid I want the moon on a stick!

On to the highlighting shimmer powder, this is lovely. It gave my skin a real glow, the sheen is unbeliveable! You can’t see much in the straight on picture, the profile one is much better and clearer to skin. For a makeup novice like me it was easy to apply, I may have gone crazy and applied too much…! Shimmer Powder is £12.99 which I don’t think is too bad, generally it is the pricing that puts me off Bellapierre, for example their mineral foundation is £34.99 *shocked face*!

Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL

Hi beauties

Today I have Rodial Glamolash XXL today, I haven’t tried the brand before but seen and heard of a lot of their skincare I wasn’t aware that Rodial were now doing makeup.

Rodial were created in 1999 and probably most well known for their Bee Venom and Snake skincare. Rodial use a lot of the patented anti ageing ingredients (Syn-ake being one) in their products and their pricing is on the very premium side (Bee Venom moisturiser is £160.00!).

So getting on to makeup, I like wearing mascara when I wear makeup as I am lucky enough to have long lashes and they are in pretty good condition (more likely because I don’t wear makeup every day). As I am getting older I am finding that my lashes are growing straighter (I used to have such a good curl *sigh*) and it makes my eyes look even more tired.

This formula promises triple volume, long-wear and conditioning. To be honest, I didn’t think that this was a particularly voluminous mascara for me. I expected (and wanted!) more lift to get a decent curl. I also found a bit of flakiness during the day underneath my lower lashes which is a bugbear of mine. The colour was good, it didn’t fade at all. Even though naturally my lashes are very dark, I love a deep black pigment. I’ve gone to the effort of putting makeup on, I want you to see it ;o)

I wouldn’t buy this mascara once I have finished this sample size, it didn’t deliver on its promises for me and the price at £24.00 is far too expensive. If you do want to try this for yourself Glamolash XXL is available from

You Beauty Box September

Hi beauties,

Well I bring bad news: this is the last month I shall be bringing you the You Beauty Box. You have teemed up with Latest in Beauty so won’t be doing their boxes anymore. Booooo! There will be options to choose more products but naturally this will cost more and from the look of the first shortlist I’ve seen, is short on full sizes. That’s what I really loved about You, you were offered full sizes so we’re really able to get massive value for money. Perhaps I am greedy….well to be truthful, there is no perhaps about it.

I digress, here is what I chose from this months fab shortlist:

  • Dr Organic Organic Morrocan Glow Body Polish
  • Max Factor Epic Lash Mascara
  • Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm
  • Beauty Kitchen Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask
  • Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor
  • Weleda Grenade Parfum

This box cost £10.95 including postage and you can buy from

I will be trying out the Latest in Beauty offering so keep your eyes peeled for that post.

Daniel Sandler Pro Intensive Volume Mascara

 Hi Beauties!

I am a huge fan of Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush (Click here to see my review) so when I heard that Daniel had created a new mascara I couldn’t wait to try it!

I am quite lucky in that my lashes are quite long but they are very straight so when I don’t use mascara my eyes look quite closed. I was super impressed when I tried this mascara as it not only doubled the look of my lashes it actually pulled my heavy straight lashes up into a good curl.
This is two coats both top and bottom and my lashes are still so soft and the dark pigment is gorgeous. It is very easy to build up and it doesn’t clump or smudge, something that has always frustrated me when I have used other mascaras in the past. It really is fantastic product, I can understand why it took so long to develop! The brush is flat meaning you can get into corners easily and quickly and there is just enough product on the brush in order to get a fantastic finish.

In my opinion, this is a great mascara and would definitely recommend it. Daniel Sandler Intense Volume Pro Mascara is available from at £18.50.
