Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip in Tulle

Hello beauties,

My love of matte liquid lipsticks is not waning at all, it’s my favourite texture as I detest gloss! I hadn’t tried Colourpop before, but it is a brand I’ve seen on Instagram a lot.

The colour is called Tulle, I love these deeper colours for this time of year. I don’t wear a lot of eye makeup so I do love a bold lip and this one definitely ticks the box for me. I found it really easy to apply, I make sure I have time to apply with bolder colours so there is less chance for mistakes. The colour glides on smoothly and the pigment covers well. I only put on one layer which I did wonder why this didn’t last long.

Colourpop didn’t last long at all on me, it came off really easily on a spoon when I was stuffing the cream topping off a hot chocolate (so like the Morphe, Colourpop didn’t pass the hot chocolate test!!) and I was so disappointed! By the time I had finished my drink, the colour was practically all gone. There was a hint of colour left on my cloth when I removed my makeup when I got home, but I personally would have to reapply after eating or drinking. The reason I go for matte liquid as they are supposed to last (Max Factor Lipfinity and Maybelline 24hour Colourstay last until I want to take them off at the end of the day or evening) Colourpop didn’t hold up to my favourites. Of course if I layer then I am sure it will be more durable, but for me this is a lippy I would have to take out with me.

I bought mine from eBay and it was £2.99, I am all about the eBay bargains! (I know there are a lot of people that don’t recommend buying from eBay, I have been very lucky and always had genuine items apart from one instance. I have been buying from here from at least 8 years, being on such a limited budget sucks!) Neither Boots or Superdrug sell Colourpop in my town and I am not sure they do in Oxford so that’s why I bought online. Even though Tulle didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I would try the brand again.

Incredible Cosmetics Liquid Lip Paints

Hi beauties,

I have a recent new launch today, INC.redible Cosmetics from the brains behind Nails Inc Thea Green. Thea has created another company, at the moment specialising in lip products. Lippies being my favourite makeup item, I snapped up for of their matte formulas!

So I previewed these on Instagram and it proved popular! The first two of the colours are “Matte My Day” in Fake it till I make it and I’m something else. These are traditional matte liquid lipsticks, a smooth creamy formula that is so easy to apply. The applicator is a shaped doe foot making it easy to line and colour in your lip at the same time.

The next two colours are the matte metallic shades Oh Yeah, You Did and Turn Me Up, Turn Me On. They go on just as smoothly as the matte colours but the shine is so pretty! I was a little disappointed when I first swatched them with the purple Oh Yeah, You Did. I expected more pigment and it was a bit sheer, I found I had to do two layers to get depth of colour that was decent.

The staying power of these lip colours are brilliant. It lasted through 5 hours while I was eating and drinking within that time. It was gone after my meal but I think 5 hours is a decent length of time. The colours are easy to apply and I’m pretty satisfied with the lasting power. You can find more shades as well as more lip products at http://www.nailsinc.com.

Hi beauties

It’s that time again, my favourite time in the month, Latest in Beauty time! I am really enjoying getting this box as a replacement to the You Beauty Box. I’ve been introduced to new brands and products that I’ve been wanting to try.

  • Burts Bees Natural Lipstick in Blush Basin

Latest in Beauty September

Hello beauties,

As you may know the You Beauty Box is no more *sob sob*, instead they have teamed up with Latest in Beauty to offer a beauty subscription service, typically its more expensive! So if you want to subscribe, here are the options:

  • Beauty Novice – choose three products from the long list for £9.00 per month
  • Beauty Enthusiast – choose six products for £15.00 per month
  • Beauty Guru – choose nine products for £18.00 per month

Delivery is included and you get a free makeup bag with your first month. I was lucky to have a code from You Beauty to get the special offer gift for You subscribers, this entitled me to a full size Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol Treatment.

If you don’t want to subscribe monthly, you can build a one off box for the following cost:

  • Beauty Novice – choose three products for £16.00 plus delivery
  • Beauty Enthusiast – choose six products for £22.00 plus delivery
  • Beauty Guru – choose nine products for £25.00 plus delivery

The list of products is longer on LIB, so the choice is massive. I prefer to choose my boxes because I don’t want to be stuck with things I know I wouldn’t/don’t want to try. Popbands were in a box I tried which is no good for me as I have short hair so they were given away to my best friend and her daughter.

For my first box I chose:

  • Andalou Naturals Instant Brighten and Tighten Hydro Face Mask
  • Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Body Booster Mousse
  • Nourish Skin Renew Cleanser
  • Green People Instant Definition Lip Crayon in Sangria
  • Origins Plantscription Anti Aging Facial Serum
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Rudolph Red

I am going to try LIB for a few months to see how I get on, my gut feeling is that I will more than likely keep the subscription up.

Sleek MakeUP Power Plump Lip Crayon in Colossal Coral

Hi beauties,

Some makeup today with the Sleek MakeUP Power Plump Lip Crayon, I don’t often go for makeup in my You choices but I’m trying to amend that so I don’t just concentrate on skincare.

I love lippies and lip crayons as they are so easy to use and the formulas are generally lovely to wear. This formula is a plumping one, it has a creamy balm-like texture so it glides on very easily and smoothly. I unfortunately couldn’t tell you about the longevity of this crayon as the plumping sensation was so uncomfortable I had to remove it straight after I took this photo. I have used plumping type lip products before, and I am aware of how they feel. Sleek describes it as “an addictive buzzing sensation” and they weren’t kidding! It felt like I had applied Alpha H Liquid Gold the feeling was that strong!

What also put me off this crayon was the colour, it just didn’t suit me at all. Sleek do make other shades but as I found this unpleasant to use, I wouldn’t buy another one in a different colour. Such a shame as I really wanted to like this. You can find Sleek MakeUP in Boots and Superdrug as well as http://www.sleekmakeup.com.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm

Hi beauties

Today’s instalment sees Burts Bees Tinted Balm in Hibiscus, another choice from You Beauty Box, I have tried a couple of products from Burts Bees but not their lip balm.

Burts Bees is a brand I am sure you are aware of, you can buy their lip balms as well as many of their other products on the high street. My local Waitrose stocks them but for some reason I have always overlooked them, I have no idea why.

The ingredients for this lip balm are: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Olus (Vegetable Oil, Huile Vegetale), Cera Alba (Beeswax, Cire D’abeille), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Candelilla Cera (Euphorbia Cerifera Wax, Cire De Candelilla), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Aroma (Flavor)*, Lanolin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Wax, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Wax, Ammonium Glycyrrhizinate, Tocopherol, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Canola Oil (Huile De Colza). May Contain: Alumina, Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 75470 (Carmine), Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides). *Natural Flavor.

The reason I chose this as one of my options is because Burts Bees don’t use mineral oil in their products. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to find a lip balm that isn’t mineral oil based AND affordable. That’s where I think Burts Bees fills that gap. I really like this balm, not only is it hydrating and comfortable to wear, I really love the gentle colour. You can build the colour by using a bit more if you want to, in the below picture I did two swipes to get that colour. It really enhances my natural lip colour, being so pale I like to wear colour on my lips to make me look more human!

This balm passes my test, and if you read my Decleor review you will know exactly how particular I am when it comes to lip balm. I find so many too heavy and greasy, I didn’t feel that while using Burts Bees. It’s comfortable to wear and more importantly it conditions without stickiness and grease. A big thumbs up from me!

Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balms are available from Boots, Waitrose, Amazon and FeelUnique, the RRP is £5.99.

June Glossybox

Hi beauties

I haven’t tried a subscription from Glossybox before so when I saw there was 50% off for the month of June, I thought I would dive in and see what the traditional beauty box is like. My You Beauty Box has products that I am able to choose myself, so I always know what I am getting.

Glossybox sends 5 products, a combination of full and sample sizes for £10.00 plus £3.95 for delivery. I received:

  • Eness Arian Oil hand cream
  • Batiste Heat Protect and Shine Spray
  • 111 Skin Space Defence Bright Eye Lift Gel
  • Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayon in Collosal Coral
  • Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Illuminator

This was a good box for me, I like the mix of products and there isn’t one I won’t use so I am pretty impressed. I am going to get the next month’s box too to compare to see whether or not I will carry on with the subscription. You can sign up at http://www.glossybox.co.uk.
