Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Body Boosting Mousse

Hi beauties

Haircare today, it’s Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Body Booster Mousse. My hair loves mousse, the shorter my hair is the better volume it has naturally, but it grows like wildfire and can get very heavy. This was in the product list in my Latest In Beauty Box, I’ve used Charles Worthington before (I used to use his shampoo and conditioner, this was in the happy pre scalp psoriasis days!) and I have enjoyed using his styling products.

I had high hopes for this and it did not disappoint, VBBM is fantastic! I only needed a small amount, a small palm-sized squirt and I distributed it through my damp hair and blow-dried. It’s non-sticky, silky feeling and makes your hair feel beautiful. So soft, you can still run your fingers through your hair, your hair can still move so no dreaded helmet-head!

I am so chuffed with this mousse, my style lasted all day so the hold is brilliant. I have used some where the style doesn’t last which is so annoying.  It gave my hair lots of height which I love, even at the crown and I find that the most difficult area to style, it is usually much flatter. The full size is 200ml for £5.99 which is great value, you don’t need a lot at all so it would last a decent length of time. Charles Worthington is often on offer in various promotions in Boots, at the moment is buy one get one half price.

Till next time,

Latest in Beauty September

Hello beauties,

As you may know the You Beauty Box is no more *sob sob*, instead they have teamed up with Latest in Beauty to offer a beauty subscription service, typically its more expensive! So if you want to subscribe, here are the options:

  • Beauty Novice – choose three products from the long list for £9.00 per month
  • Beauty Enthusiast – choose six products for £15.00 per month
  • Beauty Guru – choose nine products for £18.00 per month

Delivery is included and you get a free makeup bag with your first month. I was lucky to have a code from You Beauty to get the special offer gift for You subscribers, this entitled me to a full size Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol Treatment.

If you don’t want to subscribe monthly, you can build a one off box for the following cost:

  • Beauty Novice – choose three products for £16.00 plus delivery
  • Beauty Enthusiast – choose six products for £22.00 plus delivery
  • Beauty Guru – choose nine products for £25.00 plus delivery

The list of products is longer on LIB, so the choice is massive. I prefer to choose my boxes because I don’t want to be stuck with things I know I wouldn’t/don’t want to try. Popbands were in a box I tried which is no good for me as I have short hair so they were given away to my best friend and her daughter.

For my first box I chose:

  • Andalou Naturals Instant Brighten and Tighten Hydro Face Mask
  • Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Body Booster Mousse
  • Nourish Skin Renew Cleanser
  • Green People Instant Definition Lip Crayon in Sangria
  • Origins Plantscription Anti Aging Facial Serum
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Rudolph Red

I am going to try LIB for a few months to see how I get on, my gut feeling is that I will more than likely keep the subscription up.

Till next time,

You Beauty Box September

Hi beauties,

Well I bring bad news: this is the last month I shall be bringing you the You Beauty Box. You have teemed up with Latest in Beauty so won’t be doing their boxes anymore. Booooo! There will be options to choose more products but naturally this will cost more and from the look of the first shortlist I’ve seen, is short on full sizes. That’s what I really loved about You, you were offered full sizes so we’re really able to get massive value for money. Perhaps I am greedy….well to be truthful, there is no perhaps about it.

I digress, here is what I chose from this months fab shortlist:

  • Dr Organic Organic Morrocan Glow Body Polish
  • Max Factor Epic Lash Mascara
  • Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm
  • Beauty Kitchen Seahorse Plankton 5 Minute Miracle Mask
  • Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor
  • Weleda Grenade Parfum

This box cost £10.95 including postage and you can buy from http://www.box.you.co.uk.

I will be trying out the Latest in Beauty offering so keep your eyes peeled for that post.

Till next time,

Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Hair Healer

Hi beauties

Today I have Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Hair Healer Leave in Conditioner, this was a bonus for gold members of the You Beauty Box and I have been testing it since I got it. I don’t test a lot of haircare, if I find something I like I tend to stick with it for example my shampoo and conditioner by Kind Natured.

I have a hair confession: I don’t like my hair, I never have. I have a lot of it and it grows like wildfire so I frequently look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards. It can be coarse and wiry and some if it is fine, its kinky and wavy and now a LOT of it is grey – how rude, I am FAR too young! I also have psoriasis on my scalp which drives me absolutely crazy so with all of those issues, haircare products have a lot to live up to.

Due to the coarseness and wiry texture I like using leave in conditioners, that and they are so quick and speedy to use so if you are in a rush in the mornings they can cut down a wee bit on shower time. Hair Healer is a gel-like texture, I use a pea sized amount on my collar length hair. It has Argan Oil in it which I find works well for my hair, leaving it softer and more manageable and Hair Healer definitely does both of those things. It doesn’t make your hair greasy or oily even though it has silicones in, its easy to apply and the fragrance is beautiful.

I will get a bigger tube when this one runs out, I especially like to have a leave in conditioner in winter time when I am using my hair dryer (I don’t tend to use it much in the summer, I let my hair air dry) so it doesn’t get too frazzled. A full size tube is £5.99 for 200ml which is great value, this would be a brilliant addition to your haircare routine if you have hair like mine.

Pure Potions Scalp Oil

Hi beauties,

Today I have Scalp Oil from Pure Potions, I have an itchy, flaky scalp that gets so painful and I find the steroid lotion isn’t that effective and isn’t pleasant to use.

I was thrilled to receive this from the brand, they very kindly sent me three products to try, Scalp Oil has been on my list to try as their body Oil has been so fantastic to use I had great faith this would to the same for my poorly scalp.

Pure Potions is a brand for people with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, they formulate products using natural ingredients with very high levels of essential fatty acids which the body cannot make for itself. People with dry skin conditions often have very low levels of EFA’s and therefore have a compromised skin barrier.

The ingredients are: Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Seed) Oil

Olea Europaea (Olive Fruit) Oil

Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil

Borage Officinalis (Borage) Oil

Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract

Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil

Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Oil

Rosemarius Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil

Limonene from essential oils.

I used this as an intensive treatment every day for a week, I applied it after I finished my Skincare Routine and then went to bed. I did put a towel over my pillow because of the potential for oil staining, but that wasn’t a problem and I didn’t have to worry that I was getting Oil everywhere!

I noticed some improvement by the next morning, my scalp felt less tight, wasn’t as painful and sore but it took the week to notice less flaking and get my scalp back to a more normal footing. The oil smells beautiful, I’m a huge fan of Rosemary and Tea Tree, so it is gorgeously herby. The other half thought it a bit much but then I am generous with my application!

I’m so pleased with this, my scalp issue drives me really crazy, the results are so good and the oil is so soothing. It also made a great improvement on my hair too which I wasn’t expecting. My hair was softer, smoother and so shiny with better manageability, I now use it twice to three times a week to keep my scalp in good condition. A 50ml bottle is £14.99 so fabulous value as a pump is all you need. You may use more in the beginning, I did for a couple of uses and then as my scalp improved I used just the one pump. Skin Salvation Scalp Oil is available on the high street at Waitrose and online at http://www.purepotions.co.uk. Thank you Natalie and all the team at Pure Potions for this fantastic gift.

Till next time,

June Glossybox

Hi beauties

I haven’t tried a subscription from Glossybox before so when I saw there was 50% off for the month of June, I thought I would dive in and see what the traditional beauty box is like. My You Beauty Box has products that I am able to choose myself, so I always know what I am getting.

Glossybox sends 5 products, a combination of full and sample sizes for £10.00 plus £3.95 for delivery. I received:

  • Eness Arian Oil hand cream
  • Batiste Heat Protect and Shine Spray
  • 111 Skin Space Defence Bright Eye Lift Gel
  • Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayon in Collosal Coral
