Ziaja Marine Algae Smoothing Eye Cream*

Hi beauties,

I have a product from a gift pack I received from Eva at LoveLittlePrices on Instagram. They are a distributor for Ziaja in the U.K. as I had got on very well with their Goats Milk Eye Cream I was really interested in trying more.

The Marine Algae Smoothing Eye Cream* is a lovely eye cream. I find it’s very light cream, not greasy and a great base for makeup. It makes my lines look much more reduced and I find it has a gentle brightening effect. This is for the 30+ age group but I don’t see why it couldn’t be used from an earlier age.

The Laminaria Digitata Extract is the Algae that’s included in the eye cream. It’s full of humectants help draw in moisture from the environment, the amino acids help plump up the skin.

Marine Algae Smoothing Eye Cream is fabulous value, at £3.56 for 15ml tube. I was very surprised at the performance of the Goats Milk and Marine Algae Eye Cream. For me they worked well, and really worth a try.

Till next time,

Dr Feldblum Eye Serum

Hello beauties,

Today I have a brilliant eye serum from Dr Feldblum, who created his multi Peptide serum in an Insraeli lab. Finding out that Collagen isn’t easily absorbed by the skin, he turned to peptides to reduce puffiness, dark circles and lines.

Eye Serum is extremely hydrating, you only need a tiny amount for each eye, I have found that it really is brilliant at helping reducing the look of my lines under my eyes which is a bugbear of mine. It comes in a 20ml tube, which lasts forever! If you go direct to Dr Feldblum it is £32.00 however I bought mine for £6.99 from eBay. The moisturiser is next on my list, if it’s as good as the eye serum it will be a winner!

Beauty Pie Box 1

Hi beauties

I recently subscribed to Beauty Pie, a friend of mine Kassie (@kassie157 on Instagram) sent me some makeup at Christmas. I recently tried the mascara and lipstick she sent, I was so impressed that I signed up and got some skincare.

My choices were:

  • Double-Phase Daily Deep Rinse-Off Cleanser
  • Super Retinol Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream
  • Matte Retouch Pore-Minimizing Primer
  • Über Youth Super Serum

Since I have ordered, my skin has thrown a complete fit so I’m on a pared back routine but I will be testing as soon as I can and reviewing here. I signed up for 3 months at £10.00 per month, that gives me a spending allowance of £100. At the time of ordering there was an offer which gave me a shopping allowance of £200.

Next month, I want to try some more makeup, there are some gorgeous nail polish colours I want to try as well as some foundation.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, go to http://www.beautypie.com and take a look.

Skin Pep Hydra Boost Pure Hyaluronic Serum

Hi beauties

I’ve got a great product today, the Skin Pep Hydra Boost Pure Hyaluronic Serum. Skin Pep is a cosmeceutical brand that I found on both eBay and Amazon. I originally discovered their Retinol serum and liked it, so I wanted to try more from the range.

This Hyaluronic Serum is a lovely texture, light and sinks in quickly.  It isn’t sticky like some can be and can be layered with other serums and oils. It’s one of those that plays well with others and does not pill or break up.

Hydra Boost does exactly what it says on the tube, it gives you a boost of hydration with no oiliness or sticky residue. A little goes a long way, if you used this day and night I think you would get a month to six weeks use out of the 30ml tube.

Also ridiculously affordable at £5.99 for 30ml, the largest tube is £12.49 for 70ml which is also great value. Available from Amazon and eBay.

Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum

Hi beauties

Today is the turn of Sukin Antioxidant Eye Serum, I bought this with some vouchers I received from my Auntie-in-law for my birthday. Sukin is an Australian natural brand that I had been wanting to try for a long time and it was on offer at Boots at the time so this and a couple of other things fell in my basket.

I have a couple of favourite eye creams but the unfortunate fact is they are pricey, so I am always on the lookout for more affordable options. As this is Sukin, there are no parabens, mineral oils, fragrance, phthalates or other ingredients that you want in skincare. In this eye serum the full ingredients are: Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil (Rose Hip), Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil (Borage), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Arctium Lappa Root Extract (Burdock), Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol.

I personally wouldn’t call this a serum, to me serums are a thin liquid texture, whereas this is a lighter lotion texture. It also takes a while to rub in, more so than any eye creams I’ve used before, its really weird. It’s hard to explain, but you have to be quite vigorous in applying, even using a small amount. So not ideal when you are dealing with products and delicate areas of skin! My eyes are quite thirsty too so it was good for about an hour but after that you could see my lines more clearly. I need something that will last longer and preferably not having to reapply.

So this isn’t for me I’m afraid, my search for affordable eye creams continue….!

Bio-Extracts Eye Collection

Hi beauties,

I have another offering from Bio-Extracts today with their 3 Piece Advanced Eye Contour Collection. I was impressed by this brand when I tried their moisturiser and boosts NB Bio-Extracts Home Skincare Lab a little while ago.

Bio-Extracts are a brand that uses biotechnology in their skincare and they have a unique approach using a Lamellar System, this mimics skins layers, effectively creating a “patch” that allows ingredients to penetrate the skin and to protect the skins barrier.

In the kit I received a full size Age Defying Eye Contour Cream with 2 boosts, Eye Contour Lift and Firm Boost and Eye Contour Brightening Boost. I used Brightening in the morning and Lift and Firm in the evening which is what the brand suggest. You can of course mix them and use both or individually as desired. As with the moisturiser kit, I didn’t find a great deal of difference with the Brightening Boost, I had greater results with Lift and Firm. Both are a light serum texture which you can mix with the cream or use them as a traditional serum step before applying the eye cream. The eye cream is light in texture, it sinks in well to the skin so you don’t have to spend a long time rubbing it in to the delicate skin under your eyes.

I find the level of moisture good with this eye cream, it doesn’t diminish the appearance of my lines as well as my favourite eye cream Gatineau Melatogenine, but having said that it is close! The only thing I was surprised at was the level of fragrance in the eye cream. It doesn’t bother me and it did not irritate me, but I do know there are those of you that do prefer fragrance free formula.

This kit is available from QVCUK at the current feature price of £38.94 which is excellent value, individual price of the eye cream is £24.00 and the boosts are £19.50 each.

B. Restored Eye Cream

Hi beauties,

Today is the turn of B. Restored Eye Cream that I have been testing recently. I bought this in a skincare Haul from Superdrug a few months ago while they had a half price promotion.

I think Eye creams disappoint more than any other Skincare product. The eye area is so delicate and there are numerous issues, dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, hooding etc. that makes finding a perfect eye cream difficult.

B. Restored is a Phase 3 product for late 40’s, I know I’m not there yet but my lines underneath my eyes are my big concern. Lack of sleep and pain take its toll and shows here first, so I thought it might be a bit of a heavier hitter than a product for my age group (late 30’s).

This is more of a gel texture, which is cooling and pleasant. It sinks in easily and looks hydrating but only for about 5 minutes. The claims made about this Eye Cream such as locking in moisture, plumping and restoring elasticity don’t hold up. I find my eyes getting a little crepey and this didn’t do anything to tighten the area at all. My lines are still very prominent after applying in a way that I don’t get with Liz Earle Superskin Eye Cream or my beloved Gatineau Melatogenine Eye Concentrate, so I can’t see (pardon the pun!!) how this could be geared for an older age group. I wouldn’t necessarily say my lines are any worse than my friends of the same age so this does rather fall short.

I’m so disappointed, I had high hopes B. Restored, I think if you are in your 20’s and are looking for a hydrating gel/eye cream this may be ok, but certainly not if you are seeing signs of ageing. B. Restored is £10.99 for 15ml and available at Superdrug.
