Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash

Hi beauties,

Another cleanser today, what a surprise! I have Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash.

Balance Me was created by two sisters Clare and Rebecca Hopkins who wanted natural skincare that delivered results and also to find a work life balance. By using proven ingredients each product is created with a natural perfumer to work on three levels, aroma, skin performance and mood boosting properties.

You all know how I lean towards brands that use plant oils, botanical extracts and essential oils so Balance Me is right up my street. Pure Skin Face Wash is a sulfate free wash off cleanser I love to use in the morning, it’s refreshing and has a beautiful light jelly like texture (of which you don’t need much, I bought mine in March and with frequent use it’s still going strong!). It’s base is Rice Bran and Moringa Seed Oil, helps to balance combination skin and the essential oils of Grapefruit, Roman Chamomile, Bitter Orange, Frankincense, Palmarosa and Ylang Ylang smell utterly divine.

This face was is beautiful. Yes I will be honest, it is more than I would usually pay for a face wash at £16.00 for 125ml but it’s such a joy to use it’s worth it. I’ve used it as an AM and PM cleanse but I haven’t used it to remove makeup. You can get Balance Me at Waitrose, Feel Unique and direct at Balance Me’s website. If you are looking for a luxurious AM/2nd cleanse this is definitely it. I have a backup already!! Feel Unique also have a subscribe and save service, where you can save money by signing up for redeliveries.

Revolution Iconic 3 Eyeshadow Palette

Hi beauties

I have the Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3 today, I really liked the shades in this palette so I decided to treat myself.

Annoyingly the shades aren’t named but here are the swatches:

1-4

5-8

9-12

I love the shimmer shades, metallics are a preference of mine! Some of the darker shades you could use as liner especially number 12. I was a bit disappointed with the paler shades, I had to apply so much to make them visible on my hand but then what do you expect for £4? Perhaps I’m being too fussy!

I probably wouldn’t use 1-4 because they are too pale, and I have a lot of redness/purpleness in my skin and I doubt they would cover enough. But the shimmer shades I would use, having brown eyes I can pretty much wear anything so I am lucky. I got my palette from Superdrug and you can also buy from Makeup Revolution online.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion

Hi beauties,

Today I have Beauty Pie’s Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion, the partner to Beauty Pie Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser I reviewed earlier.

This is a lovely silky essence type lotion, that prepares your skin for all the skincare you apply after it. Hydra Prep Lotion does what it says on the tin, its hydrating and makes your skin feel so soft. It’s really quick to apply, a few drops pressed into your skin and you are ready to go!

Hydra Prep Lotion contains antioxidants and grape extracts to help protect against pollution so I would prefer to use this in the morning instead of toner. I personally wouldn’t use both as I didn’t feel any extra benefit using a toner underneath. It’s smoothing and plumping and I think ideal for any time of year when you need extra hydration. A 150ml bottle costs £7.15. I would repurchase this as it’s really pleasurable to use and is very effective.

Senspa Nourishing Body Wash

Hello beauties,

I have another Senspa body wash today, Nourishing Body Wash.

I have reviewed before Senspa Relaxing Body Wash Nourishing Body Wash doesn’t contain any SLS, it has Argan, hibiscus and baobab extracts along with glycerin and coconut oil making this a beautifully non drying wash to use on a daily basis.

The fragrance in this one is cedarwood, geranium and ylang ylang. Not a synthetic fragrance but pure essential oils which is the kind of fragrance I love. I know EO’s aren’t for everyone, but I am a great believer in aromatherapy and the effect it can have on your mood.

This body wash is perfect for first thing in the morning, uplifting yet comforting and a great option for all the family. Excellent value at £5.95 for a 200ml tube. Available at Waitrose and Senspa online.

Ren Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

Hello beauties,

The turn of Ren today, I’ve bought a few things from them last year so there will be more coming up but wanted to start with the Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum.

This has been brilliant for me to use when my skin has has irritations, I had a reaction to a new product I had used so broke this out. Also with the weather worsening and me going outside early in the morning when it’s been really cold, I thought this would be a good option to use.

Evercalm is a beautifully light hydrating serum. I apply it to skin that’s slightly damp from my toner, pat in a pump onto my skin and then apply moisturiser. It feels cooling and fresh, sinks in quickly which is what you want when you are layering.

It is very good at calming redness, does exactly what it says on the tin! Perfect for snotty, sore noses and skin feeling like all the moisture has been sucked out of it!! It doesn’t make me greasy which I was concerned about either.

Evercalm is £32.00 for a 30ml bottle, I got mine on eBay and paid about £22, I would definitely repurchase this when Ren has one of their promotions as it’s a bit more than I would usually spend. But if your skin is irritated and red and you want a serum rather than oil, this is a great option.

Superdrug Optimum Phytofreeze Swiss Ice Wine Eye Cream

Hi beauties

I’ve been testing Superdrug’s Optimum Phytofreeze Swiss Ice Wine Eye Cream for a whole now, so it’s time to tell you my thoughts.

Optimum is a Superdrug own brand, it came to my attention when they launched their Swiss Apple Stem cell collection, a high street version of brands like Oskia and Lancome. This was years before I was blogging so I haven’t actually reviewed any of the range.

It’s quite a thick cream and feels very comforting after application. You only need a wee small amount, I use the size of two grains of rice as I find my eyes are quite dry. What I found with this eye cream is that it does plump out the lines, but not as well as my favourite Dr Organic Snail Gel Eye Serum which is the same price at £12.99 And I found if I needed to reapply my skin could feel a bit heavy and sticky. I felt that this eye cream would “dry out” and the comforting effect wouldn’t last all day either.

I wouldn’t repurchase this, it was ok but not wow like Dr Organic. I would probably try some more products form the range but the brand wouldn’t be high up on my wish list.

LA Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ SPF30

Hi beauties,

An SPF today, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ SPF30. I bought this a wee while ago and have been testing, I’m a big fan of the original Effaclar Duo+ treatment serum so I thought I would give the SPF a try.

This is a very lightweight fluid SPF that applies very easily over serums and moisturisers and I have used it alone. As the colder and less sunny days appear I tend to drop down to an SPF30 and this I find perfect for my skin. Effaclar doesn’t pill like I had with Anthelios, despite the love for that SPF, I really couldn’t get on with it. What I love about Effaclar it is has all the benefits of the preventing breakouts, and refining your skin without making you a greaseball!

It’s super easy to apply and doesn’t feel heavy at all. Effaclar is the best SPF I’ve tried I just wish it came in an SPF50 version! I bought mine from Feel Unique at £16.50 which I think is a really great price for such a fab product.
