Nails Inc Nail Makeup Collection

Hi beauties,

Nails are back!! I’m so ridiculously happy that I can wear colour again, as soon as they were long enough I swatched this fabulous collection.

I’ve been veering towards more nude shades lately, these are not shades I would’ve usually worn in the past but it’s nice to make a change now and again.

The first colour is Harley Gardens, this is much pinker on the nail than it looks in the bottle. It’s a gorgeous colour that I think make my nails look neat and groomed.

Next is Beaumont Street, the darkest in the collection. This is going to be great for autumn, I have a feeling I will be reaching for this quite a bit

Pont Street has to be my favourite of this collection, the perfect nude shade. As usual these are in the new style Nails Inc bottles with the amazing brush which makes this so easy to paint. All of these shades have wonderful shine, these are two coats with no topcoat.

This set is £29.00 which is brilliant value as individually from Nails Inc they are £15.00, so you are getting one for free! You cannot best QVCUK for fantastic prices.

Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate The Mist*

Hi beauties,

Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to receive the whole Jordan Samuel Skincare line, I never did find out who sent this wonderful gift to me! I was so excited as there were so many products to try.

Hydrate The Mist is exactly what it says on the bottle, a mist equivalent of the massively popular Hydrate Serum. It’s a lovely refreshing hydrosol with Red Seaweed, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumber extract, Pomegranate extract, Passionflower Extract, Tamarind fruit extract and glycerin.

Hydrate The Mist is such a pleasure to use, I love using toners and mists as I find they do make a difference to my skin. It’s a lovely hydrating layer that you can use after cleansing and also throughout the day if you need it.

I love the strength of the mister, for me it dispenses quite a bit of product but I am generous with mists. I tend to go a bit mad! The only downside is that Jordan sells direct to consumers and is a US based site so shipping and customs can make it more expensive for us UK peeps. I am really hoping there will be a UK distributor as I do love this and would love to replace it. For a 120ml size it’s $29.00, I found it lasted me for months even though I’m heavy handed. I’m so grateful to my skincare fairy for sending me that wonderful package to try more from this fabulous brand.

Jane Scrivner Skinfoliate*

Hi beauties,

Earlier on in the year I was very lucky to receive a gift parcel from the lovely Jane Scrivner and included was a bottle of Skinfoliate.

Skinfoliate is Jane’s organic AHA and BHA exfoliator, the formula is made up of Malic, Glycolic, Lactic, and Citric Acids to target the skin at different levels. There is also a blend of both AHA and BHA from pineapple, burdock, bilberry, orange, lemon, sugar maple, witchazel, white willow and raw organic apple cider vinegar.

The AHA’s in Skinfoliate target the cells on the upper layers of the skin, working to dissolve the glue that holds them to the surface while the BHA’s target lower levels, to exfoliate the pores which is ideal for oilier skins. This multi acid approach means it will sweep away dead skin cells to refine the texture of your skin, as well as encourage collagen and elastin production.

Skinfoliate is a daily resurfacer, I don’t use it every day as my skin can’t take the use of acids daily. I prefer to use this every other night with the use of a mask on a Sunday, that keeps my skin happy and also lovely and smooth. You can smell the apple cider vinegar but I don’t find it unpleasant at all, in fact I prefer it over some of the chemical smell you can get with acids. Also Skinfoliate comes in a generous 150ml size, I’ve been using it frequently and still have a lot left! Just saturate a cotton pad and apply it to your face, neck and décolleté, as Mrs Hirons says “takeittothetits”! You can find this at http://www.janescrivner.com, a 150ml bottle is £26.00. A big thank you to Jane for sending me this wonderful product to try, another product from the range that is fantastic and a joy to use.

Green Keratin Re-balancing Ultra Combo Cream

Hi beauties,

Today I have a moisturiser that I purchased from Green Keratin. The brand had been on my wish list for a while when I bought this, it’s their use of oils and botanical ingredients that made me curious, these are the kind of products I love to use.

Re-balancing Ultra Combo Cream is for combination/oily skins so it’s perfect for me. It’s based on Watermelon Seed Oil with Squalane, Thistle Seed Oil, Glycerin, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Salicylic Acid and essential oils of Neroli and Rose Geranium. It’s wonderfully light so easily absorbed and the fragrance is stunning.

I love the feel on my skin, it feels hydrated without grease, layers well with oils and serums underneath. I love Decleor Hydra Floral – it’s in my top 5 moisturisers, however I feel for me Ultra Combo Cream beats it. It’s lighter yet still nourishing enough, it doesn’t make me super shiny and the fragrance is so beautiful. All that for the price of £14.95 for 50ml. There is also a salon size of 120ml and this is £21.95.

Re-balancing Ultra Combo Cream is a fabulous moisturiser, with brilliant quality ingredients and excellent value for money. I’m so glad I tried it because I know it will be a repurchase. Green Keratin offer a wide range of products, and can be found at http://www.greenkeratin.co.uk

SVR Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50+

Hi beauties,

Today I have Laboratoire SVR Sun Secure Mineral Tint SPF50+. I really like the Sebiaclear Creme SPF50 but I wanted a decent mineral sunscreen and this happened to be tinted.

It is slightly too dark for me so I have to take a little more care in applying and blending. For me, this isn’t one where I can just slap it on and go, you definitely have to be more thorough with application.

The tint is amazing, it covers like a foundation so it really helps to blur my pigmentation and old spot scars. This particular formula is a dry touch cream for normal/combination skin so it isn’t as greasy as some SPF’s can be. The only thing that concerns me is that as I have to blend all the way down my neck and chest (not just for the tint but for the SPF protection) it can rub off on your neckline a little. It does come off with some stain remover (I use Vanish) but it’s annoying that it happens.

As always when I buy French pharmacy brands I get them from easyparapharmacie.co.uk as they do the cheapest prices and delivery doesn’t cost the earth either. This was £10.26 for 50mls, I used it as a foundation as well as SPF and really liked the coverage. Putting makeup on top was easy, I did let the tint settle for about 5 minutes before adding blush and finishing powder. I would buy this again even though it’s not the exact shade match, it’s as near as damnit which works for me.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluid

Hi beauties,

Today is the turn of La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluid. I tried this out when my skin was playing up earlier on in the year to help with the redness, flaking and general irritation that was going on.

Toleriane is La Roche Posay’s line for sensitive skin (although the cleanser has SLS in – grr!!) and Fluide is the lightest in the range. It’s almost a liquid texture, it says its non-oily but I did find this leaving a bit of a greasy look to my skin after application which I wasn’t keen on.

I would love to say that I found this made a great difference to my skin, unfortunately it didn’t at all. I didn’t like the greasy after feel and look. I would rather use Cicaplast and put up with how shiny that is for the the much better results that gives.

Unfortunately Toleriane Fluide is a fail for me, I find La Roche Posay is a little bit hit and miss at times. There are fabulous products that I really love like Cicaplast, but this and Serozinc that everyone raves over didn’t work for me. Just shows we are all different and we can’t love everything!!

Dr Organic Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Creamy Face Wash

Hi beauties

Today sees the turn of Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Creamy Face Wash, this is a recent launch for Dr Organic, I am a huge fan of the brand so couldn’t resist giving this a try.

This face wash is gorgeous, a beautifully light silky cream texture, you apply it to damp skin and then you can rinse off or remove with a cloth. To be honest to call this a face wash is a little bit of an insult, in my opinion Creamy Face Wash is more of a cream cleanser. A face wash implies to me a cheap SLS based something in a tube you can get in Boots or Superdrug, this is MUCH better than that!

Creamy Face Wash is brilliant for both AM and PM cleanse, it takes off makeup easily and doesn’t make your skin feel tight. The texture is the same as the First Aid Beauty, the kind of moussey however it doesn’t strip my skin like the First Aid Beauty Cleanser did. I’ve convinced my Mum to ditch the face wipes (I know!!) and use this cleanser instead. She loves the Argan range, using many of the products due to the beautiful spicy warming scent that is typical of this part of Dr Organic’s line.

This is also excellent value for money, a 150ml tube is £6.99. As usual a little goes a long way so don’t make the mistake of using too much. Available to buy from Holland and Barrett in store and online.
