I have something monumental to share with you today: I have found my holy grail mascara! Yes it’s true, after searching for more years than I care to admit that day is finally here.
This wonder mascara is Max Factor False Lash Epic and boy Max Factor weren’t kidding when they came up with that name! I’ve got reasonably good lashes, some are obscenely long, but they are straight and getting straighter as I get older. This gurl ain’t got no curl! When I first tried this I was gobsmacked at how good it was. I took the photo above straight after!
The wand is brilliant and the formula is great, it provides curl to my lashes and it actually holds it too. A tip I heard recently was that when applying mascara brush straight through your lashes and don’t wiggle the brush. By wiggling you can clump your lashes together and you don’t get the maximum lift. It’s true, this totally works and gives my lashes fab Lift.
I discovered this in a You Beauty Box and will buy it forever more, it’s £12 which is more than I would usually spend, however it’s totally worth it for the results I get. It’s not a crazy £30 that some premium mascaras are so I can live with the price.
If you are looking for a great mascara to give you lift/curl and volume this will be right up your street. Thank you Max Factor!!
It’s that time again, my favourite time in the month, Latest in Beauty time! I am really enjoying getting this box as a replacement to the You Beauty Box. I’ve been introduced to new brands and products that I’ve been wanting to try.
So this month I chose:
Kiko Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in Hot Pink
Salcura Antiac Activ Gel Serum
Senspa Sleep Therapy Bath Soak
Burts Bees Natural Lipstick in Blush Basin
Eisenberg Paris Moisturising Smoothing Serum
Nuxe Rêve De Miel Nourishing Hand and Nail Cream
Some extras were a tube of Regenerate toothpaste, a Philosophy Pure Grace fragrance sample and a sample of Urban Veda Radiance Replenishing Night Cream.
My subscription is The Beauty Enthusiast which costs £15 per month for 6 products, but there are other options available. Go to http://www.latestinbeauty.com for more info!
Another Nail and Cuticle Therapy from Crabtree and Evelyn, this time it’s from the La Source range.
I’m a huge fan of this in The Gardeners fragrance and I found the same fabulous results I saw with that formula. It softened my cuticles and made my nails so much stronger with no splitting or snapping. It offers hydration from Shea Butter and Glycerin. Panthenol helps to make your nails stronger and flexible which is so important.
If you have brittle nails this is perfect for you, it will offer much needed moisture to your nail plate and encourage your nails to grow by massaging it into your nails and cuticles. I use it with and without colour and find I get great results with both. It’s fantastic in between manicures to hell restore moisture you’ve taken out while wearing and removing colour.
The fragrance is utterly beautiful, it’s fresh and has aquatic notes. It reminds me of summer time and bright sunny days at the beach. I’ve always loved the fragrance, it’s a good unisex scent and this product would be perfect for guys too who want to have improve their nails.
Nail and Cuticle Therapy is £10.00 for a 15ml tube, great size for popping in your handbag and treating your nails on the go without needing Oil. (Although I will still maintain how important Cuticle Oil is for healthy nails!) I find it lasts me about 3 months as you only need a very small amount. It’s a product that I can’t be without.
I have been testing out Dr Organic Organic Snail Gel Eye Serum for the last two months so it’s about time I told you what I thought of it!
I’ve tried the range, the Face Serum and Moisturiser but this was before I started the blog, and as Holland & Barrett (one of my favourite stores for skincare) had a half price promotion, I toddled along to my store which dangerously is a 5 minute walk from my flat. I bought the eye, face and hand serums.
The Snail element is where snails crawl over glass leaving behind mucus (I prefer to call it Snail goo!) this is then filtered and concentrated. The snails aren’t harmed in this process at all, and the filtrate is humanely harvested.
I will cut to the chase, I LOVE this Serum! It’s holy grail status and for me equally lives up to my beloved Gatineau Melatogenine Eye Concentrate. Snail Gel Eye Serum is fantastic for lines which is my main concern, I’ve been using it on the line between my eyebrows too and seen great results there too. It softens the lines, adding hydration without being greasy, it’s such a fine texture. And you need such a small amount, I’ve still got over half the serum left.
The value I had was brilliant, I bought it for £6.99! The regular price is £13.99 and I’ll be honest I would willingly pay full price all the time it is that good. Dr Organic is regularly on offer in H&B though at the moment it’s buy one get one half price. The brand is a favourite of mine and well worth checking out.
It’s not a traditional beauty product I gave today, but we all know Beauty Sleep is no myth! Feather and Down was a new brand to me, I saw it on Instagram so when the pillow spray was available to pick in my Latest in Beauty box it went straight into my basket!
Feather and Down is made in the U.K dedicated to helping people achieve a great night’s sleep. Using the Calming essential oils of Lavender and Camomile they also make Bath and Body products (a haul and reviews coming soon, I have been testing them out) with skin friendly ingredients, and none of those that can dry skin out.
So I will cut to the chase. Does Feather and Down Pillow Spray work? Yes, it does! It smells absolutely divine, I was in love from the first spray. So much so I placed an order with Boots the next morning for pretty much the whole range! It helps me relax and wind down for bed and even helps me in the afternoon when I need my nap. I’ve used pillow sprays before, even the famous This Works but for me, Feather and Down knocks spots off that. It lasts so much longer so that when I wake in the night I can still smell it and helps me resettle and get back off to sleep.
Feather and Down pillow spray will always be with me now, it’s super affordable too the full size 100ml bottle is £7.00. I’ve already got a back up. I only use two sprays maximum so it’s fantastic value for money. Anything that helps me relax and sleep is worth it’s weight in gold! Feather and Down can be found at http://www.featheranddownsleep.com and instore and online at Boots.
I have some makeup today, in the form of Volumising Mascara and Shimmer Powder in Champagne from Bellapierre. These two came from two You Beauty Boxes and as I don’t wear makeup that often, it’s taken me a while to test them..
So to start with the mascara, I have very straight lashes that seem to be getting straighter as I get older, so curl is top of my list. I love a bit of volume too, I don’t have to worry too much about length as my lashes grow so long. They’ve always been like that, much to the envy of my sister! I didn’t’ get much curl with this mascara at all, although it did make my lashes look a wee bit thicker but overall unfortunately I was unimpressed. If you want thickness and not bothered about curl this would be an option. I don’t think this is worth £19.99 which to me is premium prices, for twenty quid I want the moon on a stick!
On to the highlighting shimmer powder, this is lovely. It gave my skin a real glow, the sheen is unbeliveable! You can’t see much in the straight on picture, the profile one is much better and clearer to skin. For a makeup novice like me it was easy to apply, I may have gone crazy and applied too much…! Shimmer Powder is £12.99 which I don’t think is too bad, generally it is the pricing that puts me off Bellapierre, for example their mineral foundation is £34.99 *shocked face*!
A little while ago the gorgeous people at Pure Potions sent me some products to try and Omega Rich Cleansing Oil is one of them. Pure Potions is a fabulous brand for sensitive and very dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, I have seen fantastic results with the things that I have tried so I had high hopes for this cleansing oil.
Omega Rich Cleansing Oil contains the following ingredients: Sunflower Seed Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil and Calendula Flower Oil. No essential oils or fragrance, in fact the longest ingredient list is what the brand DO NOT put in this product!! It is not emulsifying oil, which I will be honest, is my preference with cleansing oils as I am oily. However, saying that, this is a light but rich enough texture to remove makeup, grease and grime from your skin without leaving a residue.
It doesn’t have a discernible smell, so it is brilliant for all of you who don’t like or are sensitive to fragrance and essential oils in products. I use about the size of a fifty pence piece, massage it in and remove with a tepid face cloth. My skin feels beautiful afterwards, soft, smooth and squeaky clean without the painful squeak!
Omega Rich Cleansing Oil is gorgeous, for me it would be a perfect cleanser for the cooler months, so I am saving it for when the temperature plummets. I still have the majority of the bottle still left after testing, as you don’t need a lot. For a 200ml bottle it is £22.00 which is a bit more than I would usually spend on a cleanser to be honest, but I do think it is worth it. Good quality oils are used and I would hazard a guess this could last 4-5 months possibly longer. I switch up my cleansers every day so it is difficult to know exactly how long something will last. You can get Omega Rich Cleansing Oil from http://www.purepotions.co.uk and it is also available at http://www.QVCUK.com.
