Timebomb Flashback Night Cream

Hi beauties,

I have been testing out Flashback Night Cream from Time Bomb Co for quite a long time now, longer than I usually test a moisturiser so I feel it’s remiss of me not writing this up before!

If you don’t know about Time Bomb Co, it’s Lulu’s brand created by her with the original John Freida haircare team. Lulu has long been interested in skincare and was finding that existing products were not giving her the results that she wanted as she was getting older. She turned to her friend Gail Federici who worked in the original John Freida company and she started making products for Lulu. When journalists were commenting on how amazing Lulu looked rather than her music Lulu knew she was onto something and Time Bomb Co was born.

Flashback Night Cream is based on the principal of a paraffin wax hand treatment you can get when having a manicure, it leaves your skin so soft and smooth and really locks in moisture to your skin. What I love about Flashback is that the company have used natural oils rather than mineral oil based paraffin (I am sure you are all aware of my hatred of mineral oil!!) The waxy texture comes from Rice Bran Oil, there is also Wheat Germ Oil, Shea Butter, Borage Oil and Hyaluronic acid in the formula. Before I tried it I was concerned that it would be far too heavy for my oily skin, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Flashback Night Cream is deceptively light, you don’t need a lot. I use a small spatula full for my face and neck, once you have warmed it in your hands it spreads so easily. It is packed full of moisture but not once did it break me out, I layered it with serums and oils, it locked those in and in the morning my skin felt plump and beauifully soft, and no greaseball face! I have to say I also adore the fragrance which comes from pure Lavender essential oil, it helps me wind down in the evening and I find it very comforting.

I would definitely repurchase this, it is a fabulous moisturiser and have thoroughly enjoyed using it. Flashback really surprised me, I really didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. For a 50ml size it is £36.00 direct from Time Bomb Co, however it is also stocked by QVCUK so you will probably find a keener price there.

Pure Potions Scalp Oil

Hi beauties,

Today I have Scalp Oil from Pure Potions, I have an itchy, flaky scalp that gets so painful and I find the steroid lotion isn’t that effective and isn’t pleasant to use.

I was thrilled to receive this from the brand, they very kindly sent me three products to try, Scalp Oil has been on my list to try as their body Oil has been so fantastic to use I had great faith this would to the same for my poorly scalp.

Pure Potions is a brand for people with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, they formulate products using natural ingredients with very high levels of essential fatty acids which the body cannot make for itself. People with dry skin conditions often have very low levels of EFA’s and therefore have a compromised skin barrier.

The ingredients are: Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Seed) Oil

Olea Europaea (Olive Fruit) Oil

Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil

Borage Officinalis (Borage) Oil

Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract

Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil

Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Oil

Rosemarius Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil

Limonene from essential oils.

I used this as an intensive treatment every day for a week, I applied it after I finished my Skincare Routine and then went to bed. I did put a towel over my pillow because of the potential for oil staining, but that wasn’t a problem and I didn’t have to worry that I was getting Oil everywhere!

I noticed some improvement by the next morning, my scalp felt less tight, wasn’t as painful and sore but it took the week to notice less flaking and get my scalp back to a more normal footing. The oil smells beautiful, I’m a huge fan of Rosemary and Tea Tree, so it is gorgeously herby. The other half thought it a bit much but then I am generous with my application!

I’m so pleased with this, my scalp issue drives me really crazy, the results are so good and the oil is so soothing. It also made a great improvement on my hair too which I wasn’t expecting. My hair was softer, smoother and so shiny with better manageability, I now use it twice to three times a week to keep my scalp in good condition. A 50ml bottle is £14.99 so fabulous value as a pump is all you need. You may use more in the beginning, I did for a couple of uses and then as my scalp improved I used just the one pump. Skin Salvation Scalp Oil is available on the high street at Waitrose and online at http://www.purepotions.co.uk. Thank you Natalie and all the team at Pure Potions for this fantastic gift.

Barry M Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint

Hi beauties

I haven’t done many nail posts recently and I apart from these I haven’t bought any polishes in months! What is wrong I hear you cry?? I had a bad break and when my nails are super short, I find it really difficult to paint them. I kind of lost my mojo and I couldn’t get enthusiastic about painting my nails. It’s the first time that has happened since I got back into painting 5 years ago.

I digress, I am a big fan of Barry M and when I popped into my local Superdrug they had a 3for2 promotion, I decided to treat myself. These polishes are are the Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint formulation which I have not tried before

Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in Oasis

Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in Paradise

Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in Popsicle.

The first two shades are my favourite, I thought the Popsicle would be but I found it very hard to apply and clean up. Despite the fabulous Cuticle shaped brush, it’s difficult to paint without flooding cuticles, if you do this it is so much more difficult to clean up without leaving residue and it looking obvious. It seems a thinner more runny consistency.

Paradise and Oasis are lovely, slightly easier to paint but this formula has disappointed me to be honest. I’ve yet to try the Sunset Daylight Curing formula so I think I will try that next. Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint are available at Boots, Superdrug and are £4.99 each.

B. Nourished Cooling and Soothing Mask

Hi beauties,

Another product from my Superdrug B. Skincare haul I bought a few months ago, the B. Nourished Cooling and Soothing Mask. This is from Phase 4 which is technically for the late 50’s, but the reason I bought it was to have a product that could take the heat out of your skin, be hydrating and mattifying. It sounded like it would be good for my skin type, so I thought I would give it a go.

It is a mask that you leave on your skin, I tried it on it’s own and layered with other products. At first, it layered well over a night cream as a sleeping mask but shortly after applying it started to ball up on my face. This is a huge bug-bear of mine, so I thought I would try it again but alone. Left it for 10-15 minutes as directed, when it came to massage in the excess it balled up again. GAH! No matter how I used this mask, it balled up and drove me crazy!! It went the way of the B.Restored Eye Cream, which was the bin!! I am a bit annoyed as I wasn’t aware of Superdrug’s returns policy on their own brands, they refund you and give you 25% off your next purchase. I won’t be buying anything else from the range, I have a facial oil to try as part of the haul but I have been so disappointed with what I have tried. Three out of the four products I bought I have thrown away, even if I did buy them at half price I have still lost out. Oh well, not the first time and I suspect not the last…!!

Bio-Extracts Eye Collection

Hi beauties,

I have another offering from Bio-Extracts today with their 3 Piece Advanced Eye Contour Collection. I was impressed by this brand when I tried their moisturiser and boosts NB Bio-Extracts Home Skincare Lab a little while ago.

Bio-Extracts are a brand that uses biotechnology in their skincare and they have a unique approach using a Lamellar System, this mimics skins layers, effectively creating a “patch” that allows ingredients to penetrate the skin and to protect the skins barrier.

In the kit I received a full size Age Defying Eye Contour Cream with 2 boosts, Eye Contour Lift and Firm Boost and Eye Contour Brightening Boost. I used Brightening in the morning and Lift and Firm in the evening which is what the brand suggest. You can of course mix them and use both or individually as desired. As with the moisturiser kit, I didn’t find a great deal of difference with the Brightening Boost, I had greater results with Lift and Firm. Both are a light serum texture which you can mix with the cream or use them as a traditional serum step before applying the eye cream. The eye cream is light in texture, it sinks in well to the skin so you don’t have to spend a long time rubbing it in to the delicate skin under your eyes.

I find the level of moisture good with this eye cream, it doesn’t diminish the appearance of my lines as well as my favourite eye cream Gatineau Melatogenine, but having said that it is close! The only thing I was surprised at was the level of fragrance in the eye cream. It doesn’t bother me and it did not irritate me, but I do know there are those of you that do prefer fragrance free formula.

This kit is available from QVCUK at the current feature price of £38.94 which is excellent value, individual price of the eye cream is £24.00 and the boosts are £19.50 each.

Jane Scrivner Un-Condition Oil

Hi Beauties,

I have another fabulous product from Jane Scrivner today, Un-Condition Oil, which is made using high quality 100% organic Argan Oil and essential oil of Frankincense.

I have reviewed a couple of products from the range Jane Scrivner Intense Oil and Jane Scrivner OO Cream. I really like the simplicity of the range, it is easy to find which products are the best for you on the website but the results you get are far from simple.

Un-Condition Oil is a product that helps improve skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and acne-rosacea. Argan oil is full of essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce for itself, high in Vitamin E and antioxidants. I really enjoy using this oil, just a pump on damp skin (it helps to aid absorption) and that is enough for face and neck. It helped me greatly when I was suffering from an eczema patch on my neck, it is very soothing and calming. The fragrance of course is gorgeous, I love the smell of Frankincense, I find it really comforting.

I find Un-Condition Oil an SOS type product, one that is always useful to have in reserve for those moments when your skin is acting out of sorts. It’s gentle yet very effective but you don’t have to keep it for emergencies. Argan Oil and Frankincense are both anti-ageing ingredients so it is a product you can use all the time. Just get it in your skincare routine and you will see what mean! You can find it at http://www.janescrivner.com at the great affordable price of £24.00.

AA Skincare Frankincense and Rose Face Toner

Hi beauties

I love toners, I think they have come back into popularity in the last couple of years with face mists, it is a great way of getting hydration into your skin without adding heavy layers. I particularly enjoy ones that are in a spray bottle as they are so easy to use, a few spritzes (or if you are me about 10!) on your face and that’s it! I like to apply facial oils to my skin whilst damp so I do make sure I have applied enough. The oil absorbs more quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, I wouldn’t apply them any other way.

Anyway, I digress. AA Skincare is a fascinating brand to me, they are a skincare brand from Amphora Aromatics who have many years experience in aromatherapy and natural skincare. I have tried the Frankincense and Rose Moisturising Face Cream which I really enjoyed using. It is a beautiful aromatherapy moisturiser, making your skin feel so soft and not greasy. I gave it to my friend to try who has a different skin type to me, she is has much drier skin. She also liked it so it works for varying types.

I was really pleased when the Frankincense and Rose Face Toner was an option in my You Beauty Box, I made sure to choose it PDQ in case it sold out (sometimes you have to be quick of the mark!). It’s so hydrating and the fragrance is divine. I have a staple toner that I always stick to as I really like it and it’s ridiculously affordable (I hate to say cheap!) but this one at more than double the price is a repurchase. It feels like a real treat to use and I love the bottle.

There are more products from AA Skincare that I want to try, not only are they extremely reasonable the quality is very good. They have various fragrances, such as Almond & Sandalwood, Jasmin, Mimosa & Rosehip, Neroli & Aloe and Calendula.

You can find out more at http://www.aaskincare.co.uk.
