Manicure of The Day

Hi beauties

Mani Monday is back! I had a break as there was always some skincare to write about, so manicures had a back seat on the blog and were only featured on my social media pages.

Today I’ve a Leighton Denny manicure, for this I used Steel Appeal, which is a deep, dark charcoal grey and I layered The After Party glitter over the top.

Steel Appeal is more of a shimmer, although it looks really frosty with the flash! It’s got a silver irridescent sheen to it which is gorgeous and sets apart from a black polish.

The After Party is a fabulous glitter, in a shimmery clear-blue base and gold leaf for that luxurious touch. It has different irregularly cut particles, it’s totally different to anything else I have.

Let me know if you want to see more manicures, or if you have any suggestions for a post you would like me to do, I am always open to ideas!

Time Bomb Overexposed Sun Damage Rescue

Hi beauties

As I am sure I have mentioned before, I have sun damage on my skin which to be honest is the only thing that bothers me, so I am always on the hunt for products that will help. So when I heard of Time Bomb Overexposed Sun Damage Rescue I was very intrigued!

Time Bomb say that this product is for dry, tight, leathery skin and visibly improves the sign of long-term photo damage. Overexposed has a beautiful silky texture, it’s like a moisturiser but to be used in the serum stage. It is rich but not greasy so it does sink in well even with my oily skin type. During the day this would actually be enough for me, at night I do layer with a moisturiser.

Overexposed has Omega 9 ester, which is a vegetable-derived moisture ingredient, Time Bomb say that saddle manufacturers use this ingredient to restore dried out leather back to a soft and supple state. The antioxidant Pycnogenol is also in the formula which helps to inhibit UV damage so that skin tone is clearer and more even.

I would love to say that this was great, that it reduced the look of my pigmentation but apart from deeply moisturising my skin (don’t get me wrong, this is never a bad thing!) it did nothing. I was so disappointed and I do realise that this is one of the hardest skin issues to treat so I am always asking a lot of products like these. If you are looking for an intense moisturising serum then you may like this, but for pigmentation this gets a thumbs down. Sorry Lulu…!

Overexposed Sun Damage Rescue is available from and is £39.00.

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

Hello beauties

I have a real lifesaver product today, in fact this is my second tube of it, La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5.

I have had an eczema flare up on my neck where I have never had it before. I think it was the the combination of stress and trying a  rather active new product and so I needed something to help.

I was introduced to this by Natalie an Instafriend, I had noticed she had been using it and knowing La Roche Posay I knew it would be a gentle soothing product, I picked up a small tube in my local Boots.

I can’t tell you how wonderful this Balm is, in fact it’s more of a Cream but it’s not heavy or greasy in any way. More importantly it doesn’t have ingredients that I don’t approve of and it’s affordable. You don’t need much and it literally starts soothing skin straight away. Within a couple of days use, all scaliness, redness and itchiness had gone and my skin was looking so much better.

This cream is so hydrating thanks to Glycerin and Shea Butter and it is also antibacterial. I find Cicaplast goes into the skin very easily, I’ve also used it on hands (although there is another formula especially for hands) it’s not greasy and doesn’t really smell of anything. I’ve used it on my face too when I have felt I needed a bit of an extra boost.

I find this is so much more than a beauty product, it’s a first aid must have. For skin that is compromised and in need of heavy duty soothing, especially at this time of year when it is so cold and windy you can’t go wrong with Cicaplast Baume. It’s also affordable, at £16.00 for a 100ml tube and easy to find, I believe it’s something everyone should have. A true fabulous find.

Laura Geller Ready n Go Palette

Hi beauties

I have the gorgeous Laura Geller Get Ready N Go Palette today, and I have had this for a little while. I really like Laura’s makeup, she made one of my favourite powder blushes and I always get compliments when I wear it, it’s such a pretty shade.

This palette contains two eyeshadows, a highlighter and a Blush. All are baked, they start off as creams and they are baked for 24 hours. They go on like a powder, but much smoother and they have real staying power.

  1. The eyeshadow duo are honey (the lighter gold/bronze colour) and Sable (the deeper brown shade). They are easy to apply and blend. They are well pigmented too, so a small amount goes a long way!

The highlighter is the famous French vanilla which is Matte. I personally was really disappointed with this aspect as it is hard to see on the skin. I prefer a little sheen to my highlight. I suppose this would come in useful to cancel out any redness on your eyelids as a Primer, but for a highlighter it’s a miss for me.

The last piece in the palette is the gorgeous blush n brighten in Honeysuckle. This is more of a Rose/brown shade, I usually favour pinker colours but this makes a nice change. Honeysuckle has a mixture of 2 shades in it and mixed together makes a bronze/coppery shade that has a sheen to it which I love. I love Laura’s blush n brighten blushes as when they are applied your skin glows. And who doesn’t want that??

This is the full look, the Lipstick I wore is a Clinique colour in Go Fig that I feel works well with the palette, not necessarily the usual colours I go for but I think they are very wearable and flattering. I bought mine from eBay for £15.00 but I am not sure what the full retail price is worth.

The eyeshadow and blush are perfect partners, I don’t think I would use the highlighter much as I don’t feel it particularly adds anything to your skin, I think next on my list will be to try Laura’s Portofino highlighter which has a sheen to it.

Lacura Cuvée Royal Neck and Décolleté Mousse

Hi beauties

I have a product that has been causing a bit of a hullabaloo for those shopping in Aldi, Lacura Cuvée Royal Neck and Décolleté Mousse. I don’t have an Aldi near me so my Instafriend Fiona very kindly sent me one before Christmas and I have been testing it.

I adored this product from the first minute I tried it, the texture is a super light mousse and it sinks into your skin so quickly. I have never known something to disappear quite so quickly!! It feels absolutely amazing too, when I use this my neck feels so soft and smooth and the feeling lasts all day. The mousse does soften the lines around my neck, obviously it doesn’t get rid of them, no product will do that, but to improve the appearance of them is definitely a plus!

I have struggled to find this online to find out the ingredients as stupidly I threw away the huge box, well done there, D’oh! I think there is shea butter in this formula as I did feel so moisturised. The packaging is also really cool, you twist the silver bit at the bottom and remove the brown outer pot and then there is a little lid you pull off and the product is inside.

Aldi really have done a very good job with this, it feels super luxurious both the mousse itself and the packaging, the only unfortunate thing is that it sold out super quick, I only hope they are going to bring them back as I would love to carry on using this. It was around £8.00 or £9.00 so super affordable and I love the results. I was very pleasantly surprised and Aldi has certainly exceeded my expectations. Just hurry up and bring it back, please and thank you!

If you have an Aldi near you I would recommed trying out the Lacura range, you may just find a complete gem!

Soap and Glory The Fab Pore Daily Micro Smoothing Moisture Lotion

Hi beauties

I have an offering from Soap and Glory today, The Fab Pore Micro Smoothing Moisture Lotion.

I like Soap and Glory, I’ve tried a few Skincare products before but only reviewed the face wash for the blog. The Fab Pore is a moisturiser for oily skin types, it states that it has a quadruple action, Detoxyboost, Poreshrink-12, Superfruit Yuzu and Nylon-12.

Detoxyboost is for increasing circulation and oxygen in your skin, it contains organic ginseng-based oxygenating molecules.

Poreshrink is a combination of slow release salicylic acid, Vitamin B6 and a mushroom that helps to reduce sebum production, tighten pores and boosting moisture in the skin.

Superfruit Yuzu is an antioxidant, which is brightening, energising and toning using Japanese citrus fruit.

The Fab Pore also contains a type of Micro nylon that gives instant mattification. It has a light Gel-Cream texture that melts into my skin so easily with a gorgeous fresh fragrance.  My skin definitely feels soft and smooth without any greasy or heavy feeling.

For me this works better as a day cream, as the mattification it leaves is perfect under makeup, and I prefer a little extra hydration in the evening. The Fab Pore is a brilliant moisturiser for oily/combination skins, it’s £12.00 for 50ml and you can buy from Boots.
