Reasons to be cheerful, 1,2,3: Happy Holidays!

Hey beauties,

I love Christmas, I am that still excitable child, but now I can roll out of bed at 10am and drink straight away!! (Ok, I’ve stopped smoking still let me have the booze!)

I bloody LOVE the silly season!! The fairy lights, scented candles, snuggly blanket/slanket (if you haven’t heard of a slanket I insist you research it now!) They are what I call immense (which by the way, was MY phrase before Miranda’s Mum Penny nicked it #rude) anyhoo, treat yo’self this winter season for one of those bad boys. Especially in the leopard print..

Moving on, I wanted to wish all you bloody lovely people who read my blog, maybe also follow me on social media and  all the brilliant brands I have worked with this year a special Christmas and New Year, may it bring you all the joys and treasures. I want to say thank you to you all for a fabulous year, you have enabled me in the most amazing way to feel a part of a community which in real life I don’t. I wanted to tell you about the impact on a daily basis you guys have on me and I can tell you in 5 words: You make me feel included. And for that I am more grateful than you will ever know.

And if Christmas isn’t a great time of year for you, for whatever reason then I send you my love and I hope that it isn’t too hard for you, but I want to say I appreciate you and will think of you.

I am having a wee break, so I will be back posting on the 2nd of January 2017. Merry Christmas and a here is to a healthy and happy 2017.

All my love,

Nails Inc Ridge Filler with Collagen

Hi beauties,

I’ve got a fab product today Nails Inc Ridge Filling Base Coat with Collagen, which I’m sure you will agree is a bit of a mouthful!

I got this as part of a set from QVC and I had not tried any of the Collagen formulas, as far as I know it is still exclusive to Q. I need base coat as I have horrendous ridges (or nail wrinkles as I heard them described on the presentation…!) so I need something that will fill in the little critters.

It goes on very easily, leaving a slight matte finish, this makes polish last longer, I had a manicure on my nails for 6 days and that’s a record for me. Only marginal tip wear with no major chipping. If that wasn’t impressive enough I haven’t been using Nail Envy at all as my base, I liked this one so much I find myself reaching for it all the time!

In the time I have been testing, I have had zero breaks. Which I can’t believe, but in saying that it’s totally unfair to Nails Inc. I like to think I have good nails but in reality as a polish wearer and changing that at least twice a week leaves them dry no matter how much I oil my nails and cuticles. This Collagen Ridge Filler has made my nails feel strong but still flexible, it’s a reasonably thick formula (but still dries quickly) so you really feel like your nails have a protective coat on.

I’m a huge fan of this product and I would definitely recommend not only for the fabulous, smooth cosmetic look but for the treatment benefits too. I do still love my Nail Envy but I do hear from readers that it hasn’t worked for them, I think this would be a great alternative to try. Nails Inc Ridge Filling Base Coat with Collagen is available in various sets from http://www.qvcuk.com.

Superdrug Vitamin E Sugar & Oil Scrub

Hi beauties,

Today is a lovely body product Superdrug Vitamin E Sugar and Oil Scrub. This is a beautiful moisturising Scrub that gets rid of all dry skin and leaves you feeling Silky soft.

This scrub uses natural particles to exfoliate, Sea Salt, Sugar and Walnut Shells. I would keep this purely for the body as the grains are harsher than you would use for the face. Grape Seed, Sweet Almond Oils along with Glycerin are in this formulation to moisturise. Vitamins A, B, E and F with Horse Chestnut extract help to shield against environmental damage and premature skin ageing.

It is best to use this on damp skin, I take a scoop from the jar and rub in circular motions, it really helps smooth dry patches. Great for elbows, knees and heels and I also use this as a hand scrub. I find this a really satisfying one to use as the results mean I don’t necessarily need to use a body lotion afterwards. You are left with the feeling and benefit of a moisturising Oil without the grease.

Vitamin E Sugar and Oil Scrub comes in a big 300ml tub, I use it a couple of times a week and it’s at the fabulous price of £4.99. It’s available at Superdrug online and in store.

Liz Earle Superbalm

image

Hi beauties,

I have a gorgeous multipurpose product today Liz Earle Superbalm. I have been using this for many years now, but I haven’t got round to blogging about it before now, shame on me!

Superbalm is really that, a super balm! It’s a multi use product I use for all sorts of problems from dry cracked lips and heels to dry cuticles, eczema patches and I’ve even used it on my face before for extra hydration.

This is a natural based product and as it is from Liz Earle no mineral oil in sight! The ingredients are: Hazelnut seed oil, Shea butter, Rosehip seed oil, Beeswax,  Candelilla wax, Avocado oil, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Carnauba wax, Neroli flower oil, Vitamin E, Camomile flower oil, Lavender oil, Echinacea root extract.

The balm was the first product in the Superskin range before the beautiful Concentrate oil was created, it has the gorgeous signature Camomile, Neroli and Lavender scent which I adore. A couple of swipes around the jar and the balm melts into a lovely oil texture that is easy to use. Apart from the obvious uses, I have also used the balm on my face underneath my moisturiser, balms are very popular now and I think a great inclusion into your skincare routine.

Superbalm comes in a gorgeous 30g pot and like all Liz Earle products, a little goes long way. I always get months worth of use out of one pot, it’s available from http://www.lizearle.com online and in stores at £17.25.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash

Hi beauties,

Today is the budget Cleanser Deep Action Cream Wash from Clean and Clear. I bought it on a whim when I was browsing in Superdrug one afternoon. I was looking for a Cleanser that had salicylic acid in for those times when I get breakouts to try and get rid of them quickly.

I always check ingredients as I want to avoid SLS so I was really pleased to see this didn’t have any in! It can be hard to find high Street cleansers without SLS and mineral oil in so this is a great option.

Deep Action Cream Wash has a lovely creamy texture and while it does say it removes makeup, I personally wouldn’t use it for this purpose. For me it is a morning cleanse or second cleanse in the evening. It also contains menthol which makes your skin feel tingly and fresh after use, if you are sensitive to menthol and essential oils I think it would be best to avoid it.

You only need a pea sized amount, I find it really refreshing in the morning and my skin feels very comfortable afterwards. I didn’t think it would be as good as it is, partly because of the price and these type of cleansers do have a reputation for being harsh. It’s very enjoyable to use, I don’t use it every day, about 3 times a week and it works for me well. I bought mine from Superdrug for £3.25 and it’s a 150ml in size so it would last a good amount of time.

If you have oily skin and are looking for a cleanser that will help with those pesky breakouts this is definitely a good option!

CND Cuticle Away

Hi beauties,

I have CND Cuticle Away Cuticle remover today, which I’ve been looking at for a while but I had so many others in my manicure drawer but they were not as effective as I would like.

Cuticle Away uses Sodium Hydroxide to break down excess skin and calluses, it also has a moisturising agent in as well as an Aloe Vera base. I have really stubborn and dry cuticles, I do Oil frequently as well as hand cream but I have found that they have got worse over the last year. So much so, I’ve actually damaged my nails in trying to scrape the hard skin away.

Cuticle Away is a Gel, very easy to use and no discernible smell. You put a small bead around the cuticle and rub in and the directions say leave for one minute. I find I need to leave it for much longer, between 5-10 minutes. After that I remove the excess with a hoof stick and then I wash my hands. This is one of the most effective treatments I’ve used, it works without me having to dig and scrape and ultimately damage my nails. It also comes in a huge 177ml bottle.

I use it every time I change my Polish now, unfortunately I can’t get away with only doing it once a week lol. But even when I do use it longer than the recommended time it doesn’t take that long. I would much rather remove the dead skin more often so that my nails and cuticles are well cared for, and they both look neat and tidy.

I’m very impressed with Cuticle Away, I bought mine from a store on eBay for about £6.00 so excellent value as you only need a very small amount. It is a salon product and I’m not surprised as it’s fantastic so I’m glad I’m able to use it as part of my manicure routine at home. A definite must-have.

Decleor Flash Radiance Mask

Hi beauties,

I have a mask, Decleor’s Flash Radiance Mask today. This is an enzymatic exfoliator which is so easy to use and you get great results from.

As there are no grains in this mask, it’s suitable for sensitive skin, perfect for me that needs an exfoliator but don’t react well to scrubs. It’s a clear gel that you put on your skin for 3 minutes and then rinse off. Super quick at any time of the day!

The enzymes come from passion fruit, grape and pineapple. These gently nibble away at dead skin cells and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. It’s so quick so easy to slot into any routine a couple of times a week. I’m a huge fan of Decleor and this is yet another product that doesn’t disappoint. Not as satisfying as perhaps Phytopeel is but you still get a smoothness and radiance to your skin. Perfect for whenever you need a quick boost. Flash Radiance Mask is available from http://www.decleor.co.uk and is £30.00 for 50ml.
