It’s one of my favourite times of the month when my Blogger Beauty Box arrives, this is May’s offering.
Included in this month’s box are all new products to me and 2 brands that I really like. The box contained:
- Puriskin Nurse Aid Cream full size
- Richard Ward Keratin Rehab Ultra Moisturising Rejuvenating Treatment full size
- The Hair Experts Root Cover Up full size
- Merumaya Everything Everywhere Beauty Oil sample size
- Veeda Organic Cotton Tampons Full size
Puriskin is a brand I’ve blogged about before here Puriskin Core Performance Therapy Resurfacing Formula and Puriskin came to my attention through the box. I was very impressed with that product as it was excellent for challenged skin, I suffer with eczema and it was brilliant to help on those problem areas so I have high hopes for this one!
I don’t often try a lot of new haircare either so Richard Ward’s mask is a lovely treat to have, I am looking forward to testing it out.
Merumaya is a brand I love, I adore their cleansing balm, see review here Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm* and their Everything Everywhere Beauty Oil I have been wanting to try for a long time. I am huge fan of oils and I doubt this one will disappoint.
The Hair Expert Root Cover Up is a nifty product for covering up roots if you colour your hair, it is like in a an eyeshadow palette you can use between colouring.
The last product was from Veeda who make organic cotton tampons and sanitary products another brand that is new to me.
Again excellent value this month with 4 full sizes and a sample size, Blogger Beauty Box is £10.00 including delivery. In my opinion one of the best beauty boxes out there.
Till next time,
Today is a makeup item Laura Geller Baked Color True Blush in Catalina. I got this in my QVC Beauty Bash goody bag back in January and although Daniel Sandler Watercolour Fluid Blushes are my favourite, for powder blush Laura Geller is a great go to.
Catalina is a gorgeous mauve-pink with a beautiful gentle shimmer. It’s a lovely silk powder texture and the pigment is very easy to build up. Laura’s baked formulations actually start off as creams, they are then put on a terracotta tile and baked in an oven for 24 hours. It also has skincare ingredients like White Tea and Centella Asiatica which are antioxidants.
I would say this particular shade is best for paler skin tones, I am not sure that the colour would really show on richer skin tones. The finish is sateen with a shimmer that is really pretty, not over the top and glittery. I had to pop on the flash to pick it up so if you are wary of shimmer this would be a good place to start.
This size is 1.8g, the standard size is 6.5g, I find I don’t need much to get the a good result. Like I said earlier, you can build the pigment so if you do want more of a dramatic look it is easy to do. Perfect colour for Summer, you can just use a small amount for a sheer pretty effect.
Laura Geller makeup is available from http://www.qvcuk.com, her blushes are £20.00 individually or £24.00 with a brush.
Till next time,
I have a fab cleanser to talk about today, Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser. I originally heard about the range from Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends, so when I was in the market for a new cleanser I found myself browsing on the Boots.com website and I came across the range. Una is a facialist of many years experience who wanted to create an affordable, honest and uncomplicated skincare range. There are sub ranges within the brand depending on skin type, Rose for sensitive skin, Neroli for firming and plumping, Salicyclic Acid anti blemish, Vitamin C for brightening, Retinol and Probiotics collections.
I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, but really enjoy using a cream cleanser and this one is versatile. It takes makeup off very well without stinging, the rose fragrance is quite strong which doesn’t bother me, however if you dislike strong fragrances I would say that Superfacialist isn’t a range for you.
This cleanser is Cocoa Butter based with Shea Butter, Glycerin and Rosa Damascena Flower Water making this formula suitable for dry, combination and sensitive skins. If you are particularly acneic this may not be great for you because of the Shea Butter content. It’s a moisturising cleanser which doesn’t strip your skin, you definitely feel clean after using but not in an ouch take me to your moisturiser way.
I use the size of a 50p piece for my face, neck and decollete, I am quite generous with product so you may want to try using less. You don’t need a huge amount and what I love about it is that it’s a rich cream that rinses clean so perfect for use in the shower in the morning. When I’m doing an evening cleanse, I always remove with a cloth as I wear SPF and want to make sure I am removing it properly.
The value of this range is superb and in my opinion great quality. I have tried many cleansers over the years, I always think a cleanser is a good way to test a new range, if they can get their cleansers right then generally other products follow. In fact I was so impressed with the Rose that the day I tried it, I went and ordered the Neroli cleanser as well.
Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser is £7.99 for 150ml and is available from http://www.boots.com.
Till next time,
My last giveaway has not been claimed so we have a new winner. Congratulations Imogen Beth Clegg, the winner of Giveaway No.4! I have sent an email to confirm and also posted on my social media channels. Well done and I hope you enjoy your prize.
Thank you to everyone who entered and celebrated my first blog birthday. Your support has been amazing.
Lots of love,
Following on from my reviews of This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and This Works Deep Sleep Dream Cream I now have to tell you about the This Works Deep Sleep Night Oil.
I am a fan of the Deep Sleep range from This Works, I struggle with sleeping due to my pain, I can be physically exhausted but go to bed with a racing mind that just seems to torment me! I got an email a while ago to say they were having a sale and the Oil was in a gift set with the spray. As you all get bored of hearing me say, I love oils and I wanted to try this particular one so I snapped it up.
I wasn’t disappointed as it is a glorious silky oil and of course the scent is beautiful. The base is grapeseed oil which isn’t greasy, it’s a light oil that sinks in well to your skin so you aren’t trying to rub it into your skin forever. I use it every night on my hands and arms and follow it with the dream cream afterwards. The essential oils in the oil are the same Camomile, Vertivert and Lavender blend that are in the spray, there aren’t many nights when I don’t use all three in my bedtime ritual.
The packaging is also good, it’s in a pump bottle and you can control how much to use, my bugbear personally is when you have too much product and end up wasting it. I only use wee spritzes as a little goes a long way. This oil is also lovely after a bath or shower, fantastic for dry skin and you smell divine. If you struggle with relaxing and winding down, I would recommend this and the spray to have a peaceful night.
This Works Deep Sleep Night Oil is available from http://www.thisworks.com and is £25.00 for an 120ml bottle.
Till next time,
I love nail polish, it’s been a love affair I have had for many years now and a lot that I have tried and in my collection are Nails Inc. I am a big fan of theirs and the gel effects in particular.
I can’t remember exactly when this range was released, I’ve been using them for at least 2 years now. What makes this polish different is that it is markedly thicker than Nails Inc standard formula. I remember first trying it and thinking, this is far too thick, it will never dry! Of course I was wrong, once I used my beloved Seche Vite top coat it was rock hard dry in 5 minutes and didn’t have to worry. There are plasticizers in the formula that gives it a noticeably plump and mirror shiny finish that you get with gels/shellac without the need for a UV lamp. As I am getting older my nails are becoming increasingly ridged (which I hate) and those ridges can show through polish, though not with this fab formula it really does mask them.
This particular colour is Berkeley Street which was in my QVCUK Beauty Bash Goody bag, it is a beautiful creme peach that’s perfect for Summer (in fact I am wearing it now!) it’s not a colour I would usually choose. Until last year I shied away from really bright shades, now I love them. I love dark, bold, dramatic shades normally (I’m a red kind of gal) but now I am enjoying wearing this gorgeous colour.
Another thing I love about Nails Inc are the amazing new bottles with the cuticle shaped brush. I cannot rave about this brush enough as it is so easy to use, it is curved to fit your cuticle, I can cover my nail in about 2 swipes with minimal clean up. The brush makes painting a joy and literally does the work for you.
Wear time for me is longer with this polish, I can get a week easily out of these, standard polishes for me is 4-5 days. Saying that I am super fussy and I hate tip wear so as soon as polish looks like its wearing down it has to come off! I am sure that there are many more people that will get greater longevity than me.
Nails Inc Gel Effects are available from http://www.nailsinc.com and are £15.00 for 14ml bottles.
Till next time,
I’ve become a huge convert to Decleor after their last TSV on QVCUK Decleor 4 Piece Moisture Infusion Skincare Collection so when I saw this one I jumped at the chance! There were three of the products that I hadn’t used before so I was very intrigued. The kit was:
- 150ml Micellar Cleansing Oil
- 250ml Graudal Glow/Systeme Corp Body Lotion
- 100ml Aroma Nutrition Skin Softening Dry Oil
- 30ml Hydra Floral
You had to make a choice between the classic Systeme Corp Body Lotion and the Gradual Glow version. As I had gone for the traditional body moisturiser in the last TSV I thought I would try out the Gradual Glow formula.
I love cleansing oils but I have not tried Decleor’s Micellar Oil, I’ve currently got another cleansing oil open at the moment so that is in my back up cupboard. A full review will come once I have tried it. The Aroma Nutrition is a truly multi purpose oil, it can be used on the hair, face and body. It also smells divine! Hydra Floral I know I love, so it’s very handy to have in a tube rather than the glass jar.
This collection was also available on Auto Delivery which I didn’t go for this time as I do have rather a lot of product to use first! However, I am kind of regretting that now lol, the value at under £50 was brilliant and a great selection of products.
Unfortunately this was a complete sell out so is no longer available on the QVC website, but I am hoping that it may be repeated in the future. A truly multi purpose collection.
